it's probably ok to do it, though I'll pass on a bit of wisdom someone shared with me. Replacing brake hardware will probably be a lot cheaper than replacing a transmission or engine. You decide where you want the wear and tear to be.

Engine braking is good and important for good driving. Good driving means driving safe and efficient. Ma-o gani naka pabor sa manual over automatic transmission ang engine braking. Basta dili lang nimo i over rev imo engine and well maintained, i see no problem.
engine brake only if you need to break hard, regulate your speed on a steep downhill road or are into racing and make sure your rpm won't go into the red zone after downshifting..doing so increases the wear and tear on your drive train and transmission..."break pads are cheap, engines are expensive"..mao na akung na research sauna bro..hehehe
Ok ra cya sa normal driving oi, we don't go that fast man pud on our roadsso no problems with free wheeling. I just tend to get into the bad habit of shifting to neutral even on spirited driving mao na I just decided not to do it nalang and just have it in gear para ma anad. hahaha Mas balanced pud ang awto or motorcycle when you are in gear versus when you are free wheeling. Easier to maneuver.
Another plus with EFI engines is you use 0 (as in ZERO) gas when you are engine braking, providing your engine rpms are above 1500rpms. Very useful when coasting down transcentralsaves gas.
^dammit...wa koy nasabtan...padayon lang ko drive sa akong na-andan...![]()
Mas dali ang engine wear if pirmi ka mag engine break bro...

naay koy question
when going down hill and naka lowgear ka(motor)
mag ubo2x lge ang tambutso, ok raba ni?
mapugos gud ko ug shift sa higher gear
kay naluoy kos akong baby nga cgeg ubo xD
bag,o rako sa motorcycle world gud hehe
if its within the normal speed limit for each gear, doing engine brake is OK. but if your on higher speed then sudden engine brake mao ni maka daut. but of course in emergency situtation specially if wala kaau mo kupot ang brake then you have no choice but to use engine brake bahala na ma guba ang engine compare sa ma at risk imo life or others.
