The statement above is the kicker -it is a given. In fact his intentions were questionable from the start because Mike offered him a free ticket so that he could accompany him to Germany to check on the purported account. But he did not. The burden of truth is now on his (Cayetano's) hands because if he cannot back up his allegations with real facts, the court will understand it as a requirement for "publicity", hence a ground for the charge of libel. Anyone can correct me if I am wrong but this is my simple understanding.

Like I said I'm not a lawyer so let's wait for the courts to have a say on these.

Granting without believing that there is a great likelihood for cayetano to face libel case. I believe that would still be useless and futile because as a House Rep. he cannot be arrested while congress is in session if he is charged of a crime not punishable of imprisonment for more than 6 years. If i'm not wrong the penalty for libel is imprisonment of less than 6 years. May be just maybe useless parin ang kaso ni FG.

I believe what FG did is more likely convincing the people of his innocence and regaining their trust, rather than convicting Cayetano... He just wanted to show how strong and influential he is...Its more of a propaganda, a very critical and crucial art in politics.... A lot of libel cases have been put into silent after several days in the limelight.... haahay.... KILL ALL POLITICIANS... heheh

If his accusations were true and his evidences very strong, then he should have filed it in court and not waste the congress' time and effort and not to mention media airtime as they ALWAYS DO.

They just want to confuse the people.

Whether or not the libel cases come to anything, the onus is now on Cayetano to prove his accusations, but so far he has not followed through.
