depende rana sa naandan sir. naa ko aning imong gihisgutan nga concert. baliktad akong naobserbahan. nahibong ko sa ato fellow cebuano nga wala man sila mosayaw sa mga tukar sa Eheads n Introvoys pero inig tukar sa The Monks & Ledgerline, perte man nilang panganta. you have to consider that these manila bands was not that famous here in Cebu during that time and we dont know what there songs are. so pagtukar nila, wala kasabot kaayo ang mga tao. kung atong balihon ang sitwasyon, ang The Monks ug Ledgerline ang niadto sa Manila then magshowdown, basi moingon sad ang tagamanila nga gaya'ya' raman ni manukar ang tagaCebu oi. segi man lang ni ug Bon Jovi. im not saying that bati manukar sila, what i mean is depende ra jod na sa naandan.
eheads lng ko
bai AIC (Dirt),
- first and foremost, ask ko nimo kung unsa man diay daotan kong motokar og Bon Jovi? basta dili lang "Bed of Roses" ang tukaron. Lingaw kaayo mi sa akong banda gahapon ky gisepra namo ang "99 in the Shade".
- You're correct that Manila bands was not that famous here in Cebu during the late 80's & early 90's era. Becoz we have our music/bandscene here on Cebu. Thanks to Johnny Kawa ang his "LOCAL VOCAL & PROUD" invention. We don't bow down to the imperialists in Manila. For sure The Monks & Ledgerline has the edge becoz of homecourt advantage, but can you compare their music head on? individual talent of each band members?
- The only Manila band that I respect at that generation is The Dawn, but it would have been nice if that "Showdown 2" event have featured them against the Troy Degamo lineup of 40 the Band. That could have been an interesting matchup. Other notable matchups would have been Violent Playground vs The Ire.
- I suppose sweto man jud kag Alice in Chains, becoz of your avatar pic. Kabanty ka sa early days of Frank? nindot kaayo sila ky AIC inspired pa kaayo. From the offbeat drumming of Them Bones to the anthemic "Would?", klaro kaau ilang AIC influence sa ilang mga orig compo such as "Unchanged" & "White". pyter kaayo sila sa ona. Pero karon nga ga Manila based na, ky nawala na ang pagka Layne ni Franco. Dictated naman gud sila under a label. Mao ny mahitabo kung Cebuano band nga moadtog Manila nga ma under na og label. Parehas ra pod sa nahitabo sa The Roots og Damian Paniki. Mao ny giingon nko ninyo nga SWERTE ANG INTROVOYS OF EHEADS NINYO KY TOA MAN SILA GAPOYU SA MANILA. TOA TANANG OPPORTUNITIES DIDTO, BISAN BATI MO MANUKAR NA BANDA, MAKA BREAK MO DIDTO.
@ Thread Starter (ilovecebu26): I hope you would patronize Cebuano bands rather than adoring Adoro and the Eheads. It is ironic that your username states that you love cebu. I hope you would love also the bandscene of Cebu. But I suppose the 26 on your username tells ur age. Maybe that's why you are not aware of what happened on the early days of Cebu Music wherein we ONLY listen to our very own LOCAL GROUND talents.
.
@nashsatriani ... ok i will be straight with you.
- Bon Jovi is a nice band and make good music pero usahay gud mocopy ang mga local bands sa ila tukar para mosell out lang. also, why is it ok for you to play Bon Jovi but not Bed of Roses?
- yes. proud sad ko cebu music scene during that period. mas ganahan man gani ko ato nga time compare sa music scene nato karon but you have to take into consideration nga naa sad sila ilaha scene ngadto. remeber the Club Dredd era. wala man sad ta pasagdai ana nga time kay cebu bands are also featured sa Rock & Rhythm mag a few times.
- im not a musician but i love music and usually, if i watch/go to concerts, drum and guitar solos are just fillers. manotice ra nila nga nindot ang solos kung naa sila manotice nga extraordinary, like you said nga nikayo ang drumsticks which i missed. wala man gud mo tan'aw ato para makita ang mokalayo nga drumsticks. he he
- again, wala ko motan'aw ato para sa solos but for the music. i also dont like wannabe. mas maayo kung original ang tukar. mas maayo sad nga ang mga players will make there own image, dili nga moingon ta nga nagpina'Nonu or Yngwie siya.
- The dawn is an icon and i wont compare 40 the band with the dawn. i read from a fellow music lover and an istoryan, and i quote " mura ug elementary ang song writing sa 40 the band". its not that i dont like the band, i love there music but different people see it differently.
- yes. i like AIC and i also like Pixies, Flaming Lip and Beatles. this bands i like because they make music to entertain people and themselves also. tukar sila kay gust nila ug dili para maganahan ang mga tao nila. what happen to Franco, wa koy labot but i have a copy their old and new album and they still make good music. i dont care if they are dictated by the music bosses, all i care is they made good music (for me). Urbandub has this very naughty type of music arrangement and i think this is really the why they want it so i dont think na dictated sila.
this is a public furom so ithink the TS can make any thread and any topic he wants. you too can make one. wala man bayad kung maghimo ka ug thread so go do it. i also believe that the TS do like cebu music. he just want to know which is more popular between the 2 bands. there is nothing wrong with it.
i disagree in this statement. i witnessed the early days of cebu music scene but i dont limit myself. i wonder around and listen to music from different parts of the world. remember the TRS era in manila?Maybe that's why you are not aware of what happened on the early days of Cebu Music wherein we ONLY listen to our very own LOCAL GROUND talents.
BTW, i just noticed nga satriani man diay imo username, thus your influence. technical ra kaayo ka. let loose and play the blues...
