for me, loneliness is not so much about being alone, but about being different, off, an outcast, out of place, rejected... it's easier to be accepted when you're one of the crowd.
loneliness is also when you do not know who the real person inside you really is. not knowing your feelings. not knowing your hurts and pains. not knowing your deepest dreams. not knowing your spirit. they say this is the worst kind of loneliness. of course you only get to realize this when you turn off the TV and the radio and the computer and the cellphone and the chatter of friends. in other words, when you're left all alone and you're faced with only yourself.
