tip: go for the older generation cards since they are really cheap right now and are more powerful at their respective price range.

for ATI (arranged from the more recommended to less recommended at their price range): 4770, 4830, 5670, 4670, and 5570.


If you are going for the current generation (the ATI 5000 or Nvidia 400 series), i recommend ATI since imho they won this round.

9600gt or 9800gt nlng nvidia sa imu budget, runs heavy games very well . dili ka mgmahay sa imu budget tested na ku for 2yrs and still performs very good.

Those gts 250s at that price are probably the crippled versions with 650mhz clock speeds.

ang ATI mu last ba ug years? naka sulay man gud ko ATI before dali man naguba. how about karon sa new generation cards nila?

You can get the GTS 250 ( E-Green ) probably performs quite similar vs the 9800GT, but has the 16 shader cores more. You can overclock it to match the reference GTS 250. It costs about 4.5k sa manila.

@warhorse: you just had bad luck i guess. dili ma avoid getting bad cards sometimes. Naa man juy problems sa duds sa manufacturing process. to be safe, pili lang ug mga respectable brands (XFX, EVGA, BFG, SAPPHIRE, etc.) and make sure nindot sila warrantly and good RMA rep. Also, I can't stress this enough, make sure to get a good power supply and also a UPS (kng dili ups at least surge protector). If ur components are getting dirty/noisy power, dali ra ma guba!

edit: my ati VGA (XFX) has a double-lifetime warranty, which sez alot about ati's confidence on their cards reliability so am not worried about that at all.
