For my walk-around and work I use the 18-55 kit lens. I'm not really into buying lenses, and i think abortretryfail would agree that you don't need a ton of lenses to get your work published.

however, i would like to own a 70-200 F2.8L, 10-22mm, the tamron 24-135 and a 50mm 1.4.

Jon Unson does most of his shoots with the kit lens as well... on a 350D!

walkaround lenses?

For real life budgeting:
Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L (or IS) + Canon EF-S 10-22mm F3.5-4.5 + 50mm F1.8 + EF 100mm Macro
- Feel nako, i can do a lot if naa ko ani tanan, for ART... but ROCKET / Money making... 50mm + kit lens pwede na! hehehe...

My Dream (as of today, check post date hehe):
Canon EOS 30D + EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS / 300mm F4L IS / EF 100mm F3.5 Macro
Canon EOS 5D + EF 16-35mm F2.8 / EF 24-70mm F2.8L / 85mm F1.2L + Speedlite 580ex
Canon EOS 1D Mark II N <-- Backup Camera

Extra: I heard something about "Its the Photographer, not the equipment"... I would say its "The Photographer and his equipment"...

After quite some thought, the winner: Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

I'm trying to get out there more, especially during the day so this lens is fast enough.
The 135mm is a reach I rather enjoy.
IS comes in handy for when it's getting late.
Ring USM for a fast focus and full-time manual.

I think I'll just keep this topic open for further discussions about walk-around workhorse lenses.

Already playing around with my copy. It's a good copy thank God, no back focusing.

^^Z..i saw a 90-300mm lens in Canon shop, why is the price only around 10K? considering it has a longer focal length than yur 28-135mm.

i know it has something to do with the added IS functionality, but why is it dirt cheap for that focal lenght?

Yeah, IS definitely has something to do with it.
Maybe it's the ring USM too.
..and probably the 72mm size.
