I was there last May. It was truly a very scenic and mystical experience. The marine sanctuary is so near the shoreline, with just a snorkel and goggles you will then see the beautiful world underwater. I dunno if it's a natural feeling but I got mystified and cried upon seeing the beautiful and colorful things in the water; the 'sea cow' is so cute. hehe! the roaring waves everywhere in going there is so driving my nerves crazy... but the experience is magical and the island is captivating. I wanna go back there again... Adto mo guyz!

Apo Island is best to visit during Wednesdays kay dunay tabo or market day sa Maluay or Malatapay. That is where you take your ride to the island. who wants to go there?

    Apo Island Adventure

We went to Apo Island two years ago for a summer getaway. Here are some of the snapshots I've taken.

Apo Island from a distant view

    Boat ride from Malatapay

On our way, a dolphin have crossed our path. A good sign.

    Getting closer...

    and closer...

    closer.... (the excitement is mounting)

The white sand beach and spectacular rock formation can now be clearly seen

Lots of tourists, both foreign and local

    Gorgeous rock

The eagle has landed... the sea is so clear that you could view its bottom

Inland perspective: the sea and the beach

White beach made of limestone and corals

    A lot of divers

    Marine Sanctuary

There are different parts of the island to dive and snorkel. The best one suited for snorkeling would be the Marine Sanctuary.

    Left side of the sanctuary

    Right side of the sanctuary

    Snorkeling

Believe it or not but only 2 meters away from the shore there are already hundreds of fishes that will swim with you. I'm not familiar with its names but what I could recognized are the clown fish (thanks to Nemo) and a locally known fish as "molmol". It really amazes me how to be in close contact with these large number of fish in just shallow waters.

The true beauty of Apo Island lies not much on its topography but rather beneath its surface where an underwater paradise exists. Unfortunately though, my camera is not built to capture its hidden beauty. So here's a succeeding post that will give you a glimpse of the myriad of colors from beautiful marine lives flourishing in this paradise of the deep.

wonderful place! the boat crossing is very expensive @P1200 or more but Liberty charged me only P300 as i stayed with them. i was alone on the boat with her tisay but bisdak daughter
    hints:
-this is more for the divers and snorkelers... not beach bums
-ug hadlok ka sa baud, go now while its summer as most boats are small
-the boats are safe but small, so keep cams/fones in plastic cuz waves do splash in
-electric power is only some parts of the day & night
apo is part of dauin though ang labanganan naa sa malatapay a brgy of zamboanguita. lingaw ilang tabo! do fill out the survey form and return to the tourism folks inigbalik (in my case i did not hehe)
