Hi Jaime! Last Tuesday pa naka ready ang FURminator ninyo ni Tin! Siya gyud pinaka first nag place ug order ever. hahaha! She saw the video first in facebook before I posted it here in istorya. Kani gyud mga addict sa facebook hehe!

ei pwede ra kaha ni sa chow?...my chow is 5months old...full of baby fur...guol ko ani nia, mag matting lagi usahay kanang mka skip ko comb nia...sometimes even at least a day w/o combing, mg matting na ginagmay igka ugma.hehe..tungod sa iya loose undercoat ba.........pwede ra cguro ni sa chow oi, dili ra guro mahurot ang undercoat.hahaha

Hi Oscar! Yup, chowchows are one of the double coated dogs that shed all year round. Martha Stewart is a big fan of the FURminator and writes about it in her blog. She also invited them to do a demo in her show.

If you're noticing an unusual amount of pet hair coating your carpet and covering your furniture, it's because spring and fall are shedding season. Pet keeper Marc Morrone has simple solutions for keeping this pesky problem under control.

Pets shed so much this time of year because the length of daylight triggers certain areas of the animal's brain, which determine hair or feather growth.
This growth is not continuous; it comprises a growth phase and a rest phase. The growth phase usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, when dormant hair bulbs reactivate and new hairs begin to form. The newly forming hair pushes the old hair out of the follicle as it grows, resulting in the shedding of the old hair. Pets that are kept indoors don't have quite as strong a growth phase since they're not as exposed to sunlight and changing day length.

Dogs and Cats
Marc recommends the FURminator deShedding tool, which rids your pets of excess hair before it is pushed out by the new hair growing underneath. Pets that live indoors year round can develop dry and brittle skin, and Marc recommends adding raw flaxseed oil to your dog or cat's food every day: 1 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight.

"Undercoat is the softer portion of the coat that insulates your pet from both heat and cold.
Guard hairs are the coarser hairs that help repel water and protect the undercoat.

If your pet is not groomed and allowed to become overly dirty, the shedding undercoat will essentially get stuck in place and become 'packed'. Packed or matted undercoat no longer acts as an insulator and is uncomfortable for the pet. The lack of ventilation to the skin can trap moisture, leading to hotspots and other skin infections/abnormalities."
