Solution: Better compensation...
Even one of the senior consultants (ob-gyn) has gone to the US to work as a nurse. This is according to my wife who is under her. Some might know who I'm talking about since her husband who was once a dean at UP Cebu of my wife and I during our college days...
nanaghan jud ang mga doctors na ni work as nurse in US mao nagkagamay sad ang mga MD dire sa philippines kay mag nurse nalang cla because of the compensation
the exodus, the exodus..![]()
Here's another dangerous trend that I would like to point out...
Before...
Those in the medical field (Doctor's, Nurses) go abroad when they "realized" they are paid peanuts here. (Doctor's who are into consultancy and popular are the only ones really earning)
But now...
People actually go into the medical field (even if that is not their passion to begin with) just to be able to leave the country..... ANYONE GET MY POINT
The trend right now is dangerous because these people have already made up their minds about LEAVING THE COUNTRY even before they become professionals.. Imagine how many percentage enrolling in nursing right now have this way of thinking... Imagine 5 to 10 years from now![]()
An MD said that this time is not a good time to get sick... The hospitals right now are staffed with inexperienced residents and nurses... Many medical errors which even led to deaths are committed in the hospitals right now.... Things will get even worse before it gets better... IF it gets better.
The root of the problem is the salary!
Sad to think that doctors go down just to study nursing!
I don't think so.......Originally Posted by eelssej_
We should really be concerned on the plight of our health workers. As much as they are hoping for a greener pasture abroad, our own country could have in the near future shortages of doctors.
A new project dubbed as “New Doctor for the Nation" was launched to alleviate the exodus of our health workers. The project subsidizes the school cost for medicine students. Upon graduation and passing the medical board exam, the scholarship grantees are bound to stay in the country for at least eight years. From what I've read, the idea came from Senator Juan Flavier. The distinguished senator is a doctor himself who gave importance to the need of far-flung areas fro health workers. He himself was a barrio doctor for sometime.
it all boils down to the salary compensation. Dili man gud well compansated ang mga medical field diri unless daghan naka ug credentials. mao na manglarga ang mga tao.
