    Default Our Lost culural heritage

guys i guess nobody's too old for this group. i'm here for the reason of rekindling interest in the lost Cebuano heritage AMONG young guys like you - our very own martial art called eskrima. please don't call it arnis. arnis in cebuano means to trip somebody down. The reason why arnis as a term for the FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) became more popular than eskrima because of the paranoid attempt of that Ilocano dictator Marcos to nationalize the FMA under the umbrella of the NARAPHIL (National Arnis Association of the phil.) then under the leadership of his henchman and fellow Ilocano Gen. Fabian Ver. Let's call it eskrima with all due respects to our great great lolos who fought hard with it to defend our coastal villages and our Christian faith against marauding Moro pirates of yore!

What probably most of you young guys don't know, was that during the Martial Law period, that scumbag Macoy did his own subtle method of ethnic cleanising by robbing us of our cultural heritage - one of them is by taking away credit from the Cebuanos of the origins of the Filipino Martial ARts and at the same time promoting the Tagalog and Ilocano cultures of the North! Other forms of subte ethnic cleansing is the banning of school children from speaking our CEBUANO dialect in schools and it is still happening until now. And the propagation of Tagalog as a national language. BULLSHIT! Arnis is a Tagalog term and it is not the mother or the original Filipino Martial Arts. Kali is another concoction by Filipinos and Americans in the U.S. to muddle further the real history of eskrima.

98% of the grandmasters of eskrima are all cebuanos, don't you find that amazing! and yet some people insist on calling it arnis a term of tagalog origins. It's about time we correct the historical slants against the Cebuanos. Enough is enough!

    thank you!

bai agree ko nga 90% sa davelopment sa eskrima kay tungod sa mga moro pirates and i think that eskrima is in tribal origin kay based on what my granduncle told me that eskrima is found only in coastal areas in cebu espescially my mother's hometown tuburan which was frequently raidded by moros during the last years of spanish occupation wala silay forts didto kay ang daang lungsod is protected by eskrimadors from negros occidental, iloilo, sogod, danao and nearby immigrants and pioneers from north and south and i know one eskrimador who still practices the old eskrima it is a castillo an uncle of my granduncle which is a mananambal in daang lungsod.
