it depends what genre you're fond of.. i think it wouldnt be proper to play eric johnson's manhattan on a flying v..

anyway i think the LP would be versatile.. flying V would fit for heavier songs.. & if you cant stand anything less than 24 frets, go for a 24 fret guitar
