@baijoe ... damn. that's quite high. you're one of the best candidates for lasik. well, hoping that the cause of your high myopia is the steep curvature of your cornea, thus, lasik can flatten your cornea within the normal curvature. But there are cases when the cause of myopia ( near sightedness ) is due to the elongation of your eyeball, yes, you heard it, your eyeball is literally elongating .. from the normal of 24mm it can elongate to 26 or 28mm. I presume you're wearing hard contact lens when you were still young to hinder the growth of your cornea. Have you been to an ophthalmologist ?? Do you remember your first prescription ??
@dcshoe.. having diabetes won't hinder you from getting a lasik, as long as your sugar level ( which is high ) is maintained at a certain level. And as i've explained, only the cornea is being reconstructed with Lasik. there are tons of conditions that can make you go blind, hehe
@metz, wow, you're still too young to have cataracts, are you really sure you have one ?? Were you diagnosed ?? or you're just thinking you have cataract, hehe...
@miyay... what happened ?? why did you had ulcers on your corneacoz there's only one cause of that with contact lens wearers ........ it's the wearer's laziness. No offense, but that's the biggest problem with contact lens wearers... they don't follow the regimen given to them.
- If the doctor told them that their contacts shouldn't be worn during sleep - they do. \
- if the doctor told them to clean their C.L. before wearing it - they don't
- if the doctor told them to clean their C.L. before putting on it's tray - they don't
- if the doctor told them that their C.L. can only be worn for a year - they extend the wearing time
.. as you can see, it's the hardheaded that's causing the problem.
.. really miyay, what truly happened with your C.L.

@baijoe: mga 2 yrs.
@fingolfin: yeah, laziness jud ang culprit![]()
@miyay, hehehe, as expected.
..Seriously though, Contact Lenses shouldn't be taken for granted. Please follow whatever your optometrist or ophthalmologist gives you as regimen.
thats the reason why i opted for disposable lenses...right now, im still waiting for my eyes to reach -3.0..
coz they say you needed to have at leash -3.0 to become candidate..sigh!
@fingolfin
I wear an eyeglasses at the age 14 then ga C.L ko at the age 23 till now..yup -12.50 gyud ang grado sa ako contact lens..and i cant wait to have lasik operation.
baijoe: unsa na ang 12.5? like ako before kay 450 & 475, meaning 12,500?
@miyay, i love your innocence
.. ok, this is how to measure the refractive error/correction of your eyes. In a trial case,
the prescription is segmented by 0.25 diopter steps ( diopter, our term for optical power, but in layman's term, the prescription or GRADO in bisaya ).
.. and you guys might remember that you wore this during your optical exam, it's called a trial frame, it's where the trial lenses are placed during an exam.
example of a trial lens.. a -0.50 diopter spherical lens
- The nearsighted people are corrected with MINUS lenses, hence people with myopia ( nearsighted ) have a prescription that looks like this:
o.d.: -1.00 Sphere ....
o.s.: -1.50 sphere
.. to better explain that prescription... O.D. means, right eye ... O.S. means left eye .. and that -1.00 isn't translated as 100 ( one hundred ).. but 4 x 0.25 = 1.00 .. and that -1.50 is 6 x 0.25 = 1.50 .. remember the 0.25 denomination of a trial lens
. so, miyay, your previous grade of 450 and 475 is actually .... -4.50 Sphere and -4.75 sphere
.. farsighted people ( hyperopias ) have a prescription of PLUS ... an example of their prescription should look like this: O.D. +2.50 Sphere .... O.S. +2.25 sphere
.. hope this helps
@baijoe, goodluck on your lasik, i hope everything goes well ( with your savings, hehehehe )
