Popularity mostly has done tremendous damage to anything or any breed-COLLIE fans who viewed lassie seem to not get enough of this breed coz overbreeding produce dogs with PRA(PROGRESSIVE RETINAL ATROPHY),IVERMECTIN SENSITIVITY,COLLIE NOSE ANOMALY,CHIHUAHUAS (OPEN FONTANELS,HYDROCEPHALUS,EYE PROBLEMS,HYPOGLYCEMIA,BIRTHING PROBLEMS,etc.),CHOW-CHOWS (ENTOPION,ECTROPION,PATELLAR LUXATION & BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS),GSDs (HIP & ELBOW DYSPLASIA,DEGENERATIVE SPINAL DISEASE,PANOSTEITIS,ANKYLOSIS,ACHONDROPLASIA,etc.) COCKER SPANIELS (CATARACTS,EAR ASSOCIATED PROBLEMS,RAGE SYNDROME,etc.),BULLDOGS(BREATHING PROBLEMS,BIRTHING PROBLEMS,HIP & ELBOW DYSPLASIA,ETC.)BELGIAN MALINOIS(EPYLEPSY,BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS like nipping,fence running,running in circles,etc.)DALMATIANS (DEAFNESS & BLINDNESS),LABRADORS (HIP & ELBOW DYSPLASIA,OBESITY PRONE,THYROID PROBLEMS,BLOAT,ETC).as with most popularity,media mostly dictates whats in and not,it can make u famous & rottenly unwanted & feared at the same tym.little did screen fans knew that as every household fill their homes with these breeds...so are shelters!mostly unmanageable house dogs with temperament issues-dominance,food guarding,etc.some of which are being dumped in shelters coz of their SIZE(would be owners didnt expect that they wud reached this & that size they just see them as cute & tough looking doggies in MTV's!).....and most of this so called owners are TEENAGERS & ROCKSTARS that want nothing but to attach these breeds to their fragile egos.so much 4 being a fan!

depends on the temperament & line of the puppy or dog they're interested in,thats why breeders shud do the breeding properly & not just the usual 'puppymill approach' at the same tym learn how to match the temperament of the puppy (ie,dominant,submissive,etc.)with that of the would be owner.but generally,i wud not recommend them 4 the novice owner,or kanang mupalit ug dog na based on ibog2x ra or pa cute2x lang,nya wa jud nag evaluate sa character sa dog ug ila self if they're fully equipped to take care of this breeds,then owners with no sense of fair discipline & least of all to owners who tend to spoil their dogs(mostly owners of toy dogs who carry there fluffy pooches all the tym...aka Paris hilton wannabees).coz these breeds are intelligent & dominant dogs at the same tym,based on what they're bred to do over the years,with that i mean,that if they observe that their owner (which is viewed by any dog,size or breed as an ALPHA leader) is not capable of performing the 'alpha role'...they will take over the job (ie.,overprotectiveness,unnecessary aggression,etc,)on the otherhand i would say that,when raised properly (same with most breeds),they're the best companions & playmate 4 kids.there's even a computerized data in it....it says that 'if there is a breed OR BREEDS most suited to be a child's companion,with no exagerration in physical size, as it would be a flaw...it would be this breeds due to the fact that 'they're tenacious enough to play with the children all day,they are strong breeds which are capable of carrying a child on its back for long periods,they have very high pain threshholds to not react immediately when a child accidentally or intentionally pull their tails & ears or step on it,at the same tym are not big & clumsy enough to accidentally squash & hurt them and they're capable of protecting not just the child but the whole family against human or animal intruders.'
owning a dog,socializing & training it is not at all 'rocket science' contrary to the belief of some,its just a plain COMMON SENSE
