    nahala pls ask bosing Wikipedia...

The word "Jihad" at its root means "Struggle,". Jihad has been around since the writing of the Koran, which occurred over a thousand years before America was even found. There are two kinds of jihad. The other 'jihad' is the inner struggle of the soul which everyone wages against egotistic desires for the sake of attaining inner peace. The root of the word "Islam" is "Salam" in Arabic which means Peace, and the meaning of the word is Submission to Allah (God)

Yes Jihad, the islamic term for holy war, somewhat you can wage it because of the belief that it would be justifiable if someone would take your wife or steal away your property..etc.

Not all but most. And there were also wars aggravated by religion in which of all historical events, the Holocaust seems to be the most unfathomable. Holy Hatred has been highlighted by history as civilization's major irritant and yet to date, many of us refuse to find our redemption in the lessons history has taught us.

FYI: cause of war is always human interest. Interest that centered on themselves and we call them dictators. TRIBAL Wars can also be the cause. But the worst is RACISM.

    religion is of human interest...

bitaw its not really religion.. i mean the conflict in northern ireland has been between catholics and protestants.. but really its between the poor and the rich.. just happen that protestant were the rich party and the catholic were the poor party...

in most conflict analysis naa gyud ang difference sa religon (sayon man gud segregate ang taw base on religion from there maka make examine ta sa ila culture, belief then ila dayon actions and reactions)but if we dig deeper naa pa gyud diay mas big na reason other than religion...

ok heres a basic math for u...

Since history and pre-history of humankind... how many wars do u think occurred?... and you're overly concerned about WW I and II?

IMO... Religion doesn't cause wars... BUT it does JUSTIFIES it... which is more scary, as long as the other person doesn't believe in what u believe in... religion always give theme an excuse to kill...

as the late and great George Carlin said:

"The more religious a person becomes, the more killing becomes negotiable"

Again I say. It is not religion that causes wars, it is man and his evil.

Not a single religion teaches killing, you know for a fact, even if you are an atheist, that religions always teach love and peace. It is man and his evil that takes religion, wraps it around him and use it as a disguise of power to fuel his own evil intention.
And then comes the critics who takes it the other way around and thinks a stand comedian is a great scholar.
