there are also some cases in which the extra frequency increase doesn't dictate any increase in performance. the best ddr2 800/1066 low latency mems, can beat ddr3 1066/1333 high latency mems...

so its not necessary to pair quad cores with ddr3 mems, not even for performance reasons...
you can barely even see any difference with the new am3 platform from am2 ones when running on similar configurations and only the memory is different (ddr2 vs ddr3)... wala untay fanboi masuko, hehehe

bro, i had tried to assemble that processor last time (assembling pc seems became a hobby and part-time bizness to me).

with that processor, try i-paris ug nforce EVGA 750i FTW (For The Win) SLI mobo,
PNY 9600GT in SLI with 4 GB ddr2 ram

This system can handle crysis and keep it at a good 60+ frames with maxed out settings. But i dont run a super high resolution though it works. only at 1280 x 1024 (and i'm more than happy on the performance anyway). It can be overclock to 3.15ghz if you want sab...

puwede sab nimo ni i-try: above move + 45nm intel q9450, 4 gigs corsair c4 sli memory, dual 8600 gt cards (much better performance than with your Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 processor). my-2-cents ug gudluck.

I don't think kaya sa iyang budget and its not reasonable...

intel q9450 - seriously, this is expensive, I think the TS is trying to get good performance on a budget
dual 8600gt - just get a single 4770, pawns that dual configuration on some or most games, has less power consumption. some games doesn't scale well on dual card configuration.
4gbs corsair - corsair is not the only good memory brand bro, get low latency AND affordable mems like the team extreem dark series, I doubt your gonna overclock it anyways

also these brands are hard to find, lol, wala ta sa states bro, hehehe

nforce EVGA 750i FTW - expensive and hard to find, get a good p45/p35 mobo, gigabyte is good for around 4k budget
PNY 9600GT in SLI - seriously, where do you find these brands locally? same recommendation as post above, get a single card...

sakto, mao sad akong napansin sa uban niya mga replies, kung muhatag man lang ug advise, pede practical lang sad unta sa TS... T_T

bro, noted with ur inputs. pairing with the right hardware is essential. in fact below 2nd-suggested specs posted on my earlier posting are working properly in superb performance. it's just my-2-cents bro. in fact, no point (IMO) to assemble a pc on low budget but expecting a higher result. else this discussion will never end as there was no certain budget specified here anyway. I gave my suggestion initially based on his plans to use the Intel processor. believe me bro, below specs is way better than the 1st specs. although i agree with you on the RAM part. it's often argued even from the system manufacturers kung ang low-latency RAM (expensive) is worth than the higher latency RAM (cheaper) even the performance variances that small (1 to 2 %). BUT for the extreme enthusiast and the overclocking set, the story is a bit different. 'coz the biggest performance improvement almost surely comes from running some combination of lower-latency, overclocked RAM. I chosed corsair brand as it gave better performances in terms of noice-vibrations. and yes, it can be overclocked.

assembling pc now a days have to be really smart. if plano lang ta mu play ug mga latest games, intel core 2/quad core will suffice for the next 6 months. from 1 year onwards, technology evolve too fast. i7 920 was release na, then 1.5months later, i7 950 were released sab. RAM is upgrading na sab. OS (microsoft) is slowly pacing out the XP although it happened a few years back in the west. vista is moving to 64bit na sab and slowly pace out ang 32bit. my point is, technology is evolving too fast and every gaming industry has to catch up sab. although below specs as a bit expensive but surely it can be utilize (whatever upcoming games) for the next 2 to 2.5 yrs or so. long-term wise, it will benefit the TS...

wow... sensysa na bro. "copy and paste", lolz.. no pun intended. sensya na, wala ko pinas bro. 4got to consider if some of my brand recommendations may not available pa diha pinas (maybe on some cities). wala sab ko states as posted by somebody earlier, naa lang ko SG ga-work. pero ang technologies diri is comparable to other 1st world countries sab and it's keep getting cheaper pud.

so, sensya na, just trying to maximize the hardware as possible, ug ga-assemble sab ko ug pc diri bro as hobbies and part-time income. busa naa sab ko some ideas on what i'm talking about. good day.
