heheh Luthienne...forget the image on the beach. It seems that sand gets everywhere no matter what care you take. I tried that in La union. There was one surfer who pulled out a trem harp and just kept blowing away like he was improvising. I pulled one out and jammed but it only took a couple of tunes and i got sand in already. How I managed to get it there ?? Probably the intoxicant.
Yes the blues harp may yert be the most portable musical instrument. You can take it hiking and doing other stuff. One thing .........its not only for peaceful or soft music. It can also hold its own ruckus in the right hands or mouth for that matter. hehehe.
I'm sure you can learn it alone but it will be faster if you get a tutor. i'm no pro but am always willing to share any little I know. Good luck.

uhm.. country and traditional tunes would be nice. aside from The Hansons and Alanis Morissette, i know no other artist who plays the harp. practicing songs from them would be easier since i know them and am familiar with their music.

    Hala, nabuhi akong thread! Hehehe...

I hope this would somehow generate some attention to the harmonica players and BLUES lovers here in cebu. I'm sure there are lots of harp players out there. It would be nice if we could somehow meet and share resources, tips, and techniques (over a bottle of fine wine...).

We'll be waiting for you, master aquafire...

Hey Luthienne. You are in luck i have materials for the simple traditional songs. Alanis M. style playing is also not complicated. Which particular song?

Hoy Serpent boy , ayaw kog tawgag Master aquafire. Layo ra kaayo na sa tinood. Bulatik para sa chicks lang hehehe. Basin mas maayo pa mo mo-tukar hehehe.

Most harp playing are done by blues artists and some rock. Even heavy metal rock like Joe Satriani plays harp. Led Zep's Robert Plant plays very good too. Rolling stones Mick Jagger also plays harp but mostly use Sugar Blue in their recent tours to play.

HI Luthienne. I listened to Alanis' Head over feet and I think you can use the same type of harp you have. She is playing in ist position style. I just need to be sure of the key. I'll tell you later.

Other brands? The brands may not be as important as the type. Get the Hohner Special 20 or pro harp models. If you only buy one then get Key of C cause it is the most common key used in books. .

Hey where is your Aunt coming from? Kung Manila na-ay Lyric harps. Or Silver star harps by Hohner China. Do not get the very cheap ones they are more difficult to learn on.
