it depends kung asa ka comfortable... ako maya man ko gud... naa may tutorial book sa maya na dali masabtan for beginners.. mahal kaayo, photocopy ra gani ko..

yeah, 3d apps are different from image editing software or other 2D software.... all of them do the same thing, so just find which one you like best and stick with it..

but u can always find a demo in each.. hehe try it all.. find out which software you prefer..
