    this is what we believe.

    Questions On Doctrine FILE: q-introduction.htm

We have written this exposition of our 27 major beliefs to reveal how Seventh-day Adventists perceive God. This is what we believe about His love, kindness, mercy, grace, justice, benevolence, purity, righteousness, and peace. Through Jesus Christ, we see God benevolently holding children on His lap. We see Him weeping as He shares the sorrow of the mourners at the tomb of Lazarus. We see His love as He cries, "Forgive them, for they do not know what they do" (Luke 23:34).

Academic debate [1996]; Crossexamination by the negative (UST)

Adventist: Yes, it is in the scripture. Leviticus 11:7

Forester: It says that man should not eat pig, am I right?

Adventist: Correct, even touching is prohibited.

Forester: In Leviticus 11:7, it says pig, right?

Adventist: Right. And there is no way for you evade because it is so clear in the reference.

Forester: I don't need your comment, just answer the question categorically next time.

    Arbiter: One minute left.

Forester: Allow me to proceed. The reference says "pig". It doesn't say that "pork" is prohibited, am I right?

Adventist: Well, "pork" is a part of the "pig" [interrupted]

Forester: Answer the question categorically because the question is categorical; I didn't need your justification in this moment, you can present it in your delivery.
No answer to the previous question. Let me proceed.
Are you aware that there is a difference in the terms "pig" and "pork"?

Adventist: Yes. But... [interrrupted by another question]

Forester: And such a difference is not present in our dialect, am I correct?

Adventist: Perhaps. But.. [interrupted by another questiuon]

Forester: When the reference says "pig", it refers only to "pig" and not to "pork", which makes your basis irrelevant, am I correct?

    Arbiter: Time is out.
