A museum is not a library. Library Hubs are not libraries. No amount of museums, library hubs or even so-called satellite libraries in public schools can replace a City Public Library. If you have funds and resources to build these "alternatives" then there is no reason why you cannot maintain your City Public Library.
Kami dinhi sa Mindanao, ga-paningkamot nga matukod ang amoang mga public libraries sa tanang levels, kay amoang nakit-an ang kamahinungdanon niini, ug mao say mando sa balaod. Unya kamo dinha sa Sugbo, inyoha rang sirad-an? Kay morag napul-an na tingali mog gamit ana, ihatag na lang kaha na sa amoa. Apil ang building kay mao nay kasagaran namong problema diri, wala mi building kabutangan.
What is more difficult to understand is that a Consultant on Education and an Acting Mayor are facilitating this move of closing down the Cebu City Public Library. Na, naunsa na man ning kalibotana.
don't close it.. i used to visit public library when i was in college... this is a very nice place to visit with... kami tawn mga uyamot nga wlay kapadulngan kung naay research anha tawn mi padulong.. pun.an pa nga amo school kulang og books asa naman padulong... *sigh* now am paying taxes to the gov't.. so asa naman![]()
asa ba na dapita ba?
that is expected.
kay ang mga batan-on tua na sa DotA ug Counter nagtambay
i'd say it's better to close it down. i agree with brownprose... who wants to maintain a library when nobody uses it? with the politicians we have in our country now? even if they had the money, they wouldn't spend that money for modernizing public libraries. they'd rather keep the taxpayers money into their own pockets.
At lunch yesterday I chanced upon a full-page ad in a local paper asking people about their opinion about closing down the Rizal Public Library. Further research made me realize dugay naman diay (last November pa) ang move to close it down...and yet NO TOPIC on this important issue was made in iStorya?
I guess that just goes to show how people here in Cebu (or perhaps specifically, in iStorya) care about books and libraries.
Do you care about it? Heck I'm not even from Cebu, and I'm an advocate of e-books and etc, but a library is more than just a building--it's a symbol of literacy. I just want to say out loud here, that I'm against such a move. Libraries have been an important part of my life, and I can very well say libraries to a certain extent, molded me into the person I am now.
If it's money they lack, why not convert part of it into an income-generating e-library?
ADDENDUM: They can spend millions on "other public places/utilities", yet cannot upgrade the city's library? *shakes head*
