    nganong naka-sulti man ka ani necrotic freak if financially educated ang person, it is a fact nga maka-solve jud na sa financial problems and other problems related to finances (which is basically everything! ). here is my theory sa imong statement, i think imong pasabot kay kadtong mga person who knows the ways on how to handle/spend their money BUT opt NOT to act on them... maong "daghan dili makahimo ana"... sa akong gibuhat karon, daghan nakong na-sharean sa idea, and they would generally agree to the things i share to them, unfortunately, daghan pud ang dili mu-make sa sacrifices... kay dili sila ganahan ma-usab ang ilang lifestyle... mu-sulti nga mag-huwat lang nga mu-dako2x ang sweldo... PERO inig ma-increasan, nalimtan ang statement nga "inig increase nako, mag-sugod nako..."...

    REMEMBER, IF YOU DON'T START SAVING WHEN YOUR SALARY IS STILL SMALL, YOU MAY NEVER WILL. (kalimot ko asa ko naka-basa ani... hehe ) pero naay baya truth ani... kay saving entails disciple man gud, so if wala ka nag-discipline sa imong kaugalingon mag-save nga gamay pa ang sweldo, lisod na ug sugod kanang daku2x na ang sweldo... KUNG MUDAKO GALI ANG SWELDO, MUDAKO MAN PUD ANG GASTOS... Kung daku ug sweldo, dapat mu-bagay ang lifestyle (whatever it takes...)

    that is my friends comment on me 'tihik" kuno ko asta akong wife muingon na tihik kuno ko..... for me it's not tihik... I just want to spend my money for my NEEDS not my WANTS.....
    there is a big difference between things that you need and things that you want.....

    needs are the things to survive(longer)
    wants are the things that give you pleasure

    I also spend money for the things that I want but with limitation and discipline.... my point is that your expenses must be justified. hehehe thats me
    @dcabungcal

    i congratulate you my fellow istoryan for understanding what your WANTS are and what your NEEDS are... This is one step everybody can make... Differentiating what we really WANT and what we NEED.

    Pero question lang ko, unsa man imong gibuhat sa imng money nga na-save? naa ra sa bank? if so, is it approximately 6months of your monthly income? i your answer is, "YES NAA RA SA BANK, AND IT'S MORE THAN 6MONTHS OF MY MONTHLY SALARY", then my dear friend, kulang pa ang endeavors nimo... This is what you have to remember, banks can only safe-keep your money. But it can never let your money grow and work for you... Your money is basically sleeping if you keep it in the bank... Y? Just think of this concept, inflation rate right now is about 11% and banks nowadays give out about 0.75% per year for savings accounts... (mga 3-4% kung TD) so, ang value sa imong money sa bank kay nagtika-ubos tungod wala na cya ka-apas sa inflation rate (which by the way, determines the buying power of your money). So, if nanobra na sa 6months worth of monthly income imong savings sa bank, you have to find ways on letting YOUR MONEY WORK FOR YOU.

    kini pud akong ganahan i-share kay i've also met people nga dili tuod gastador pero ang kwarta, gibutang lang sa banko... kay wala pud silay idea kung unsaon pagpalambo sa ilang kwarta sa laing pama-agi... wala sila nakasabot nga naay mga investment vehicles nga ang ilang kwarta na maoy mu-trabaho para nila...

    i agree with honey2723, any excess savings of 6 months worth of expenses should be put in better use to hedge for inflation. and ok man sad ang naay utang basta "smart utang". sample, if u can buy for a thing using a credit card or cash. kung walay discount ang cash, i would use credit card for the points and the time value of money coz i could use the cash for something na makaearn ko.

    OT: @smurky - hi ian! excited na ko sa ato corpo
