    ^^

    I got this from Google

The Gospel of Thomas has this saying:

    114. Simon Peter said to them, "Make Mary leave us, for females don't deserve life." Jesus said, "Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of Heaven."

In Saying 114 of the Gospel of Thomas, Peter, who represents the orthodox viewpoint, asks Jesus to tell Mary Magdalene to leave, as women in general are unworthy of spiritual teachings. Jesus refuses Peter's request, and states that women who transform themselves as men become worthy of spiritual teachings.

In the same way the gnostics believed that they were communicating directly with God, church leaders might also have thought this when they were sifting through the 30+ gospels at the time and chose what "they thought" would best tell the stories and show the words of God.

I disagree. This Gnostic gospels are not part of Christianity. Gnosticism is a separate movement but it usually hijacks the teachings of other religions. Its like the New Age of today. Gnostics camouflage their true identity by using the language of other religion. Christianity is the target because it is the true religion.

So Gospel of Judas is no big deal for me. Its just one of the frauds used by Gnostics to destroy Christianity. Sadly Gnostics will always attempt to supplant Christianity- - - - in vain.
OT: now where did you copied and pasted this from mosimos? LOL

where did you get the idea that gnosticism is anti-christian? where in fact it is just a branch or offshoot of a particular religion where they focus on mysticism and knowledge. christianity doesn't have a sole ownership of gnostic sects...

There are four gospels in the Bible namely Matthew. Mark, Luke, and John. However, many scholars said that there are many gospels (aside from those mentioned above) such as Mary, Thomas, and Judas. The problem is, most people do not even read those four gospels (the former), how much more if the latter gospels are printed? Aside from that, it is difficult to internalize, understand, and unlock the mystery of the former gospels how much more the additional of other latter gospels?

It is not only Judas who betrayed Jesus... almost all of them, especially Peter. But unlike Judas they repented for the wrong doings they have done and did not commit suicide.

And where did you get that it is not? This Gnostics are a different group who had their own philosophy so different from Christianity. To call them Christian is like calling Lakas NUCD an opposition party.

Gnosticism was not compatible with the Christian faith because it promoted self-knowledge (gnosis is the Greek word for knowledge) as the sole basis of salvation.

What the TV special does not say is that the Gospel of Judas was promoted by the "Cainites," an ancient Christian sect that defended the role of Cain in the design of salvation.

Cain, in the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, was the first son of Adam and Eve after their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. In a fit of sibling jealousy, Cain slew his younger brother, Abel, in what the Bible says was the first murder committed by mankind.

Judas Iscariot was considered a saint by the Cainites

The Gospel of Judas and the sect of Cain, therefore, were guilty of "determinism," for showing that Judas's betrayal and Cain's murder had been predestined as part of the design of salvation.

THE CATHOLIC Church has not hidden from Christians the existence of the Gospel of Judas and other Gnostic writings. But scholars and certain sectors of the media have tended to use the controversial writings to forward their own agendas and discredit the Church, a Catholic biblical scholar has warned.

"There may be malice involved," said Spanish Dominican Fr. Angel Aparicio of the University of Santo Tomas. "They may be scholars, but they have their own agendas. I am so surprised the National Geographic is promoting this (Gospel of Judas)."
