    mao ba? sayanga gud...
the place is a bit cramped though... perhaps they should have removed the computers and market solely to the coffee drinkers and readers...
    too bad...

a friend was just telling me about Borders... a cafe somewhere in the us... where you get the same format... coffee and books and magazines... tons of 'em...
    in short... heaven

i hope some other entrepreneur tries this out again and succeed... dont forget the comfortable furniture

yeah, it would really be great if someone could put up a similar place: a cafe/ library/ book club...

i dreamed of having this kind of business before. i hope i can start one in the future... =)

Maybe they closed na. I wanted to go there before pero layo man then I have no time. Maybe they closed kasi Filipinos aren't that into reading, maybe a few but not much. These days I just get my "books" online na lang, much cheaper. But nothing beats holding a real book.

This is one of my dream businesses, too. Perhaps a good way is to start an informal book club?

@wak_wak: It might be useful to ask why they closed in the first place? The first thing that came to my mind when I read this thread was, "Do Filipinos really need a cafe to read any literarature?" I used to be a chain reader of sci-fi and fantasy novels (second hand or brand new) and I read them during class breaks, before going to bed, while waiting in line or plain waiting for something or someone, etc. I visited Kahayag in Mabolo and they no longer provide books for free reading. Maybe a better business would be a study center although I also don't know if it's profitable or not.

Cafe Intelleto had a nice concept. Sadly though, not too many appreciated it ..... not enough to sustain business... but maybe if they moved to a better location they could do better business...just a thought..

@maia_79: I was thinking along the same line yesterday. I think SM or Ayala would have been a better location because husbands and long-time boyfriends who are bored waiting for their wives and GFs to finish shopping could have a place to read and drink coffee. Of course, this means that books would have to be male oriented (and I don't mean girly magazines) but rather business books, computer books, military history, etc.
