    nimen zao!

yay karong friday and saturday na ang among "Mandarin Idol" contest for beginners hehe. because i help them review, nagkat-on pod kog ako and medyo naka gain kog momentum. when i read the textbooks now, i can understand about 70% of the dialogues (the pinyin part). teaching really makes one learn twice as fast.

Yeah, I strongly agree bro with ur opinion.
Like myself, we're from Chinese descendants.
My Ankong was from mainland China.
My mom attended half of her primary and full secondary education in a Chinese school in Davao.
The thing is they speak Amoy inside their home and not Mandarin.
When we were little they tried to teach us to learn the language but bcos we don't find it interesting so everytime my mom talks to her siblings in Amoy we make fun of it.
Now that we're grown up we realized what opportunity we missed!

Like last month , when I was in Quiapo shopping some clothes in a tiangge.
I was accompanied with my dormmate who worked as a DH in Singapore and is engaged with a Malaysian national whom she met in Singapore.
We happened to stumble a stall owned by a Chinese couple who is obviously who hardly can speak tagalog.
While bargaining with the Chinese owners my friend negotiated to them in Mandarin.
I feel so small of myself that here I am who has Chinese roots and my friend who is very pango, able to communicate fluently in Chinese while I don't.
    Shame on me!

^yup i live in a chinese-speaking environment although the chinese people here are also trying to learn english hehe.

this program is quite different because it's actually preparatory for further work or studies in chinese-speaking environments. i'm not expecting everyone to qualify, but with the few who will i would be happy.
