Sure, Pacman is a great boxer. There's nothing to argue about that. But to call him Bayani is to place him alongside with Rizal and Bonifacio. Pacman is just a person of whom the people place their bets on at Las Vegas. Err, is that a hero? I don't think so. Cz if it is, I'll play DOTA (one of the greatest things I need to achieve) and convince everybody to place bet on me.

Pacman is doing it for the money. He's making millions out of it. He's not fighting for any cause. Cz if he is fightiing for Pinas, he is willing NOT to receive any big check with fat amount. Ack! You won't see Tiger Woods being called as Hero or Bush phoning him.

I like to call him as a "SPORTS HERO"...A hero for me is someone who inspires others to excell in their own fields too.

Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison etc for me are "SCIENTIFIC HEROES" since they've inspired people to think out of the box.

Gokongwei etc, can be considered as a "BUSINESS HERO", he inspires people to excel in business...

And we have Rizal and Bonifacio, they can be called "Revolutionary Heroes" since they inspire people to revolt against oppressive regimes..

Pacquiao I think did it, he lifted the poor spirit of ordinary folks who look down on themselves that there is hope, they can still compete with the best of the world.

One more thing...you don't have to die to be a hero or like Clark Kent who risk his life preventing a nuclear holocosts...like I said...you only have to inspire other people to excel.

he gave pride to the philippines, he's our national treasure. ask ko kung kinsa nga pinoy na nakahatag og noise sa pilipinas like he did. Even people from asia are proud of him because he is the greatest boxer that came from this continent. Just think of the sacrifices he made (rigid training, separated from his family, NO *** during training, man that hard). He earns millions and he is worthy of it.

i agree.. HERO si manny.. but there's a great distinction between a HERO and a SPORTS HERO.. :mrgreen:
