it's basically just a place where u can write anything u want to write. like a diary. only difference is it's online. hope i didn't confuse u even more.

Based on online lookups, the word BLOG came in 1st. Thus is Meriam Webster (the dictionary) adding this term officially in the book in their 2005 release. Though as I recall in my readings, this term blog coming from weblog existed since 1999.

"Blog noun [short for Weblog] (1999): a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer"

There are actually a plethora of reasons why people blog... and there are also different types of blogs (personal blog, political blog, commercial blog, technical support blog, information gateway blog, community blog, a blog airing opinions of a certain subject aka article-journalism type and many more). Though I must say that majority of the bloggers use their blog as an online diary or journal reflecting their personal lives, some even go as far as venting their vanities, joys or frustrations into deep detail.

I however have a mix of a blog. I write "some" personal stuff that is "not" too personal and expound them into an informative article. I like to write about my experiences and thoughts without having to be directly personally attached and discussed. Like for example, I talk about the differences of the toilets here in NL than comparing to the Philippine or American toilets. Or currently my latest entry is about Sinterklaas, as they say is the Santa Claus now being copied by all cultures in the world though each has its own distinctive character for a Santa Claus. Or personal stuff but not giving too much or defined information. So that sort of stuff...

So, I mainly refrain writing too personal thoughts that could endanger me to whatever danger lurking out there. Did you know that an employee of Friendster and an airline stewardess of this certain airline both got fired for airing confidential thoughts about their employers in their blog? I guess that should be a rule for every blogger especially if your site is visited a lot. Be careful of revealing private information, better not! Be careful of what you write because you never know who visits your site. Play safe.

And there are also those trolls out there who stalks and posts foul comments, I suggest you just ignore them, dont make "patol", hehe.

thanks guy, at least i'm a little bit enlightened. though i still can't seem to understand why my friend keeps pestering me about weblogs... well i guess weblogs aren't for me...
