i do believe in God because He is our Savior...

it is not hard to understand why.
first, human nature. we are always curious about things that are happening around us. we want to understand why things are the way they are. it is not just scientists that do that. all of us try to make sense of the world that we live in. there are legends of how a mountain came to be, or a fruit, or a tree, or a flower. those are explanations.
but what makes scientists different is that they base their explanations on actual things that are happening. things that can be experienced. things that can be experimented and measured. that is what makes science different from superstition.
and what keeps them going and discovering new things? utility. simply stated, because its useful. they discover the cause of diseases (which used to be attributed to evil spirits) so to save lives. they discover laws of magnetism and electricity (used to be called witchcraft and alchemy) and lead to major technological advancements.
science is effective because it is useful. superstition is not, because we cannot derive new knowledge from it. that is why the pillars of superstition are being challenged by science, religion included.

follow up question... ngano humans ra man ingon ana?
Science may be useful... but are they really doing good for human race? before there was technological advancement... people live longer, but as time goes by... it become shorter and shorter, not to mention those fetus that are being aborted with the use of science.Originally Posted by gareb
why do they have to challenge superstition and religion? so ang science wala d i kalainan sa religion, nga mamugos sa ilang tinuohan?
yes.i believe in GOD.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Yes, i always believe in him and in fact he has given so much of a Blessing that i'm always grateful for![]()
FK: sure ka? human lifespan was longer before technological advancement and medicine? every nursing student would refute your claim. why do you think mas lesser ang nangamatay and mas taas ang birthrate at present, resulting to increase in world-wide population?
why challenge superstition? simple. because it destorts reality. i am sure you honestly do not believe in the legends of fruits and flowers and trees and all that banana, do you? nobody's forcing you. the sheer weight of reality does that by itself.

God? he doesnt exist even in my slumber....

karon pila na lang kabuok taw makaabot og 80+?
because lesser people do not use birth control, resort to abortion... this two are product of science.Originally Posted by gareb
then why challenge religion? and also you forgot to answer my follow up question... why humans are curious.
I think it is by nature that humans are curious.
Science does not unlock all the mysteries in this universe. But it does continuously provide history, which is key to the understanding of the human race. And I highly doubt it if ever science has answered all the questions, humans will stop asking them.
Scientists are not doing their jobs to prove religion wrong. Mind you, it is not a walk in the park formulating theories and conclusions--- these are constant headaches to them. What keeps them going is the drive for knowledge of truth, regardless if it makes them happy or sad.
Religion is sanctuary. You are freed from most questions through faith. You won't have to suffer the headaches that science will have you undergo. Religion is somewhat of a scapegoat if you look at it that way. But I highly doubt if there's a single religious devout person who has no questions at all. To have no questions is to deny the very thing that makes us human.
Just thinking.hehe
