Surprisingly, this team is the 3rd in the league in terms of retaining roster continuity. Let's hope it translates to wins this coming season.
I read an article about our boss and i want to post it here...it's relevant to post this in our thread since he is our boss...HEADLINE right now .
Check this out!
Jordan Versus
And so we have come to this: The Proclamation.
Michael Jordan recently listed the players he would have liked to play one-one-one with:
Jerry West
Elgin Baylor
Julius Erving
Carmelo Anthony (Jordan brand helped Melo’s mention?)
Dwayne Wade
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
In a game of one-on-one versus other all-time greats, the Greatest of All Time just said, "I don't think I would lose."
All but one. Kobe Bryant.
In MJ’s own words and said with a badass smile, "other than to Kobe Bryant, because he steals all of my moves."
I’m intrigued by this so I am imagining “Jordan Versus” would happen. Here are the results.
Jordan versus LeBron James
Let’s start by saying that Michael Jordan is the most competitive basketball player ever. Look, he’s 50 now and the man thinks he can still lace it up and play in the NBA. That's how competitive MJ is. No way is MJ going to allow LeBron to get him one on one. He'll will himself for the win. But how the hell can MJ beat LeBron?
See, LBJ is at his best and virtually unstoppable in fast-break possessions. Coming in at full force and at full speed, he’ll score every time. But that doesn’t happen in one-on-one half court game so that explosiveness advantage is already negated.
What's LeBron James’ money move when he wants to score? Most of the time, dribble it in the perimeter and do 18-20 footer pull-up Js. Can LeBron count on his midrange Js and beat MJ? I think not. So LBJ will have to beat him off the dribble. Turns out, Michael Jordan is the best perimeter, on-ball defender of all time.
So to the block will LeBron go. James' advantage is he's heavier (and stronger). What is the closest thing we can do to somehow mimic a LeBron low-post shootfest versus Jordan? We can look back maybe at Jordan versus a bull-strong Charles Barkley, circa ‘93. Who's the first to score 12 points if Barkley goes exclusively inside while Jordan, on the other hand, unleashes his full offensive arsenal on him?
Theoretically, a heavier LeBron can dominate MJ in the post, right? Not really. MJ is a master defender. Check YouTube, he knows how to use his arm, center of his mass and body weight against low-posting players. Besides, have you seen James lately? Who has he dominated in the post? Jordan is a different animal, one of the top defenders of all time, in and out. He can eyeball James in the ground or in the air.
Now flip it. Can James stop a clutch, devastating scorer, prime Jordan? No way.
Jordan vs Kobe Bryant
Jalen Rose once said, "Michael Jordan is the original. Kobe Bryant is the remix baby!" Can the remix beat the original? Jordan gives him a chance, but can he?
Bryant is the greatest scorer of his generation, if not all time. He's in the same stratosphere with Jordan himself and Wilt Chamberlain. Bryant has a complete offensive repertoire and all the moves necessary to win a one-on-one game. Also, Bryant has better ball handling skills than both MJ and LeBron. Kobe can shoot from the park (better than MJ), has the killer-instinct, his mid-range game is impeccable and has a polished post game. Simply put, if you'll design a player for one-on-one basketball scoring, Bryant is the model.
But Kobe has two problems against Jordan: (1) Kobe is an elite defender, but not MJ level. MJ defensively is better than him. Jordan may be able to get that pivotal stop and get the W. (2) Jordan is a beast in the post, he'll put him in the block. And with MJ a bit stronger and with an array of moves down low, he might be able to get the buckets. Verdict, the original wins.
By the way, you are all entitled to your own imaginations. I'll wait for comments.
