French firm assures RP of stable oil supply
Iloilo City—Amid the Middle East crisis that sent oil prices skyrocketing, a French company considered as the fourth largest publicly-traded oil and gas venture has assured Filipinos of a stable oil supply.
Total Phils. Corp. gave the assurance during the formal opening of the first three of its outlets in the Visayas, with French Ambassador Gerard Chesnel attending the historic event.
Anna Whitehouse, president and managing director, said the company is committed to satisfy Filipino consumers through their services.
Whitehouse was accompanied by Gary Jones, Total senior vice president, at the launching of the company’s first three gas stations outside Luzon. Iloilo Rep. Raul Gonzalez Jr., Governor Niel Tupas and Mayor Jerry Trenas were among guests and dignitaries.
“Our goal this year is to open 15 more stations nationwide and I am happy to note that we are well within our target to date. With 84 stations and counting, I am confident that we will be able to inaugurate our 100th service station by the time we celebrate our 10th anniversary next year,” Whitehouse said in her speech.
“Our expansion though is not so much a numbers game. Rather, it is a commitment to offer consumers a better alternative—a better choice in terms of quality products, safe and clean facilities, and efficient and friendly service,” she added.
Whitehouse said that the promised sustainability of oil despite the MidEast conflict is being made with the partnership with Joe and Carmen Santos of the Santos Petroleum Inc.
“I am sure you will all agree that the inauguration of our Total (Iloilo) station is proof of our company’s continued commitment in the Philippine market. We have opened two more stations in the island of Panay—one in Cabatuan, another in San Jose, Antique and a few others are in the pipeline,” Jones said.
“Asia (particularly the Philippines) is an important market for Total and we will continue our strategy of selective expansion in our various businesses. As markets expand and become more sophisticated, Total will be at the forefront of product quality and service excellence as we continue to transfer our international standards, developed and refined within the highly competitive European environment, to our business in the country and in the rest of the region,” he added.
