I think that I agree with Wik here but as guests I also think that we should also consider how the owner wants to run his site, as opposed to what we think is ideal for a website like iStorya to be run and governed.

First and foremost, we are all guests here. If they did not approve our registration in the first place then we wouldn't be here saying our pieces. Unlike site visitors, we are given the privilege to contribute (as in, what we are doing in this thread, right here).

If there is something we do not like in how they run things around here, the best thing we can do is air our sentiments and move on, and hope that we get a positive response. That's about it. Bitching about it will only aggravate the situation. If we don't get a response then we have the option to suck it up or leave.

It's much like how you behave in your own house. You own the house so you do whatever you want in and around it. How would you feel if someone walks in your house, opens your ref and takes your food, sits on your sofa, puts his feet up on your table, and tells you not to do the stuff that you want to?

... and please keep the "evaluations" coming. Some of them are informative and worth noting. I do suggest that instead of coming in with all cylinders firing, do so in a constructive way. We do not live in a perfect world so it is expected and acknowledged that we commit mistakes from time to time. However, a mistake cannot be fixed with another mistake. So, if you truly want to help... do so in accordance with our rules.

But if you really feel the need to come out firing from all directions then at least cite examples and lay down facts. Simply stating something without substantiating will not do anyone any good.

Sand Man - I wasn't questioning on how the operator runs his site, i was simply trying to point out that some members except for those that really broke the rules got wrong judgement for wrong reasons by mods that abuse their authority as mods. And as I stated some" and I wont name them, they know who they are when they read this.

Oh and its not you mod that gave me my infraction, I really deserved that and I wont deny.

There are those mods also that really do a good job of maintaining the forum, good job. "thumbs up to them"

I really wish that everything can be perfect but they cannot be. The answer to your question lies within the context of the rules.

In the case were mods themselves act in a manner that's out of context to their authority, Your statement of attacking the mod's opinion turned out to be a ban order for many members, so how do we correctly and properly tell a mod that he is wrong without getting nuked in the process by an enraged mod with happy fingers?

gi bold pa gali neh oh.. no.1 sa forum rules..

    1. Moderators are to be treated with utmost respect. If you have any issues with Moderators, course them thru the admins (BeoR / Galadriel/ Vern) of the site or thru GlassMoon / Seducer/ Bailey privately. Persistent violations will result in a ban.

I think that posting examples of the conversation would be very helpful to get your point across. I think that not naming names while trying to contribute to this thread is counter-productive to the purpose of what this thread is trying to achieve.

Here's a good sample (for me, at least) of moderators and members who are debating hard on a topic (2 of them). I do not agree completely to any side on what they are saying. I truly feel na ug nagka-atubang na sila nag-debate dugay ra ni sila gasumbagay tungod sa mga pasingit na istorya ... Pero it's still a healthy debate nonetheless.

regarding the stickies in the buy and sell section maybe istorya.net can have a maximun time a sticky can exist. some sticky are from 2010,2009, which i'm not sure if its still relevant.

also what would be the criteria for getting an ordinary poster's post get stickied in the buy and sell section?
maybe a mod can add a comment why a certain post got stickied (like if it was urgent(which will have an expiration time)).

example thread (no comment from a mod, I do not know the poster nor do i have anything against her):

can a mod apply his privilege to his friends?

regarding infractions, is there a guide that mods use when giving out infraction? for example if you spam links/OT post, etc.. on other threads. what are the "standard" equivalent infraction a poster can get? i see some mods giving, a small slap in the hand or a warning, while other mods are giving maximum penalty (like perma bad), and i personally think this is one privilege a mod can abuse to people he/she doesn't like much...

i think the absent of a rule to govern a privilege, creates a loophole that some people in power can abuse.
