Hyperwage Theory: First it will make you laugh, next it will make you think.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Quick question.

Q: In order to increase the wealth of third world countries, which of the two choices below is a more logical step?

    a. Lower the cost of labor to increase the profit of the companies within the said economy (Note: revenue - cost = profit)

b: Increase the minimum wage labor cost by 1,000%

According to Hyperwage Theory, the answer is:
b: Increase the minimum wage labor cost by 1,000% to US$1.50/hour !!!!!!!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably the craziest theory you've ever heard.

According to the Hyperwage Theory: increase the minimum wage by 1,000% to US$1.50 per hour.

If minimum wages were raised 1,000% will the price of computers also rise by 1,000%?

Will a mobile phone store retrench its lone cashier?

And which country is cheaper, France or Laos?

Hyperwage Theory explains the concepts of asymptotic hyperinflation,
    labor monopsony,
the reality of the Keynesian multiplier,
the importance of increasing the purchasing power of the lowest wage worker,
    the redistribution of wealth,
and the myth of cheap countries.

Hyperwage Theory identifies the cause of the poverty of nations and its corresponding cure.

Question: With all the collective genius of the Third Wold countries exactly what is their
prescription to bring this country to First World status in 25 years?

Want to cure insomnia? Give this to a friend.

For teachers: Here's a theory for your students or fellow economists
to tear down into pieces, (either as reaction paper or class debate).

In this manner, you'll find out how mature their economic knowledge is.

What is the cause of poverty? What is the cure? here a viewpoint

Do you know economics enough to know that this crazy idea may not be
as crazy as it first sounds?

Hyperwage Theory serialized in BusinessWorld, a business newspaper in Manila, in 2005, goes beyond Keynes.

    How To Analyze Hyperwage Theory

If you want to intelligently analyze Hyperwage Theory, here are some tips to streamline your efforts:

    1. Do not jump into the discussion feeling "more intelligent" than the proponents and students of Hyperwage Theory waving your knowledge in basic economics gathered in Econ 101 and Econ 102.

    2. You must assume that the Hyperwage theorists have read and understood Econ 101 and Econ 102, and probably more intelligently than you did.

    3. Read the book. The book is still free by download from Streetstrategist - The Misadventures of the Street Strategist Volumes 1 to 13* by Thads Bentulan(streetstrategist@gmail . Though the Hyperwage Theory was serialized in BusinessWorld business newspaper in 2005, it has been edited for typos, and the latest version is uploaded whenever available.

    4. As you read the book, try to find out what principles or ideas in the book are incompatible with your Econ 101 and Econ 102. Do not assume immediately that the "incompatibility" makes the Hyperwage Theory wrong. Reserve your judgment after you have read the entire book, word for word.

    5. While reading the book, take down notes and write down your questions. It is probable that your questions will be answered in the later parts of the book.

    6. After reading the book, and after noting the "incompatibilities" you can then post your questions or reactions in this web forum.

    7. Again, assume that the proponents of the Hyperwage Theory are endowed with a certain level of knowledge and intelligence, and therefore be careful in coming up with your own violent "intelligent" reactions that may make you appear ignorant or idiotic.

    8. If you are not prepared to follow these tips on how to analyze Hyperwage Theory, then it is better if you do not waste your valuable time in this forum.

    9. As always, in any decent conversation, avoid hate, personal. disparaging remarks. Look at the idea, not the person.

    10. If you don't believe in Hyperwage Theory, it is better to create your own theory on how to make poverty history in Africa, Asia and other Third World countries.

It is not possible to solve poverty. Unless we will live in "Utopia". No matter in what country you are in there will always be rich and poor, same as there will always be white and black.

    Education

    - Education is very important. It empowers us. Well, not all uneducated are poor, but majority are. When a parent is uneducated, most likely, he passes it on to his children because they could not afford to send their kids to school. When the children becomes a parent themselves and is left uneducated, their children would go through the same experience as their parents. It is passed on from one generation to another. A tv show guested children of "Basuseros". They were accompanied by their parents and when their parents were asked what their "parents" jobs were, basureros. Poverty was passed on. The kids who were the guests are also basuseros. They help their parents earn a living to put food on the table. At that very moment, where should they be? In school, learning.

In order for us to stop poverty. These people should be taught. Provide trainings and seminars for free. General education is no longer applicable since time is constrained. It will not help a welder to know why the square root of 100 is 10 but it would be more useful to know the proper use of welding equipment, tips and troubleshooting.

Training will empower and strengthen them. Soon end up in jobs not only locally but overseas as well or they can start up their own business and could also provide jobs for those who are in need. They could already send their kids to school since they already have an income.

    Health

-Prevention is better than cure. Not all people have access to health care. There are no enough doctors, nurses, midwives and other health care providers in the community. Not enough medicines for those who are sick. Health care units are not well equipped and are low on supplies. Worst, medicines that are suppose to be for free are already for sale. If the community is not healthy, the economy will suffer as well. The community should have an access to clean and safe drinking water. They should be taught about proper sanitation, hygiene and disease prevention.

Women should also have an access to different family planning methods without being discriminated. Every woman has the right to decide as to how many kids she wants to have. Population is one of the causes why there is poverty. If a family has kids that they could only afford to support then there is no problem. However, when a family has more kids than they can afford, money that is suppose to be equally shared is no longer sufficient and resources are not enough. Couples should have access to contraceptives.

Teenage pregnancies are also very common nowadays. I guess this is already an eye opener for all of us to impose *** education in school. How can they survive life, if they are children who are having children?

    Corruption

-When resources are that are intended for the community is pocketed by those who are in power, this is the major cause of poverty. When millions of pesos are extorted from the money that is supposed to be used as an investment, the effect on the economy is more than the amount that was taken.

A snatcher snatches a wallet in the streets, we go ballistic about it. We immediately send the person to jail. On the other hand, when a person of wealth and great power extorts money from our very own pockets, is our reaction the same with the ones we had with the snatcher? Do we send this person to jail right away? He has to undergo hours and hours of investigation. While under investigation, the person freely roams around, spending the money he took from our pockets and enjoying the wealth that is not his.

Corrupt Government officials are one of the causes of poverty and while the snatcher may very well be a victim of poverty that is caused by those are corrupt.

As citizens, we should also look into ourselves and examine if we have done something that would help our nation progress. Do we just sit around and complain how our government run the country? Before we impose change on other people, we must look into our very own lives and say, "Have we already made a difference?"

With all due respect, we are a country with very high literacy rate. We have college graduates working as cashiers, room boys, clerks, etc. How can education solve poverty when our graduates are receiving low salaries not even enough to feed themselves.

Yes corruption is a problem perpetuating in this country- thats why the hyperwage theory is proposing to increase our wages- so that wealth will be channeled directly to the working class.

    There's 3 options for the gov't:
    1. Quality Education
    2. Descent and Reasonable Jobs
3.Implement Family Planning(Just support the reproductive health bill regardless of the church)

Now there's 3 options for each citizens:
    1. Be prudent when spending your money (basic necessities first and savings id next priority)
    2. Learn to invest or establish various businesses suitable for your current income and let capitalism be on it's way.
    3. Plan your family carefully so you won't be burdened by too much people to feed, and clothe.
