Globe completes submarine cable to Palawan

Globe Telecom on Tuesday said it has completed the rollout of a submarine fiber optic backbone in Palawan, one of the country’s premier tourist destinations.

“This is a landmark development in the local telecommunications industry as Globe Telecom is the first telco provider to complete a submarine fiber optic transmission system in Palawan. The cable system will further boost network capacity and enhance reliability to support requirements of business establishments in the province,” Robert Tan, Globe chief technical adviser said in a statement. The 400-kilometer undersea cable system links the province to the main island of Luzon.
