THE CEBU MASTER PLAN
(Taken from the presentation)

President GMA promised to make Cebu an international industrial center, a tourism destination center as well as the maritime capital and hub of information technology in the country...

With these declarations, Cebu's business men immediately divides the plan to realize this vision. This is the The Cebu Master Plan.

These are the specific plans and visions:

1. Metro Cebu Corridor
*** Envision to provide a corridor linking the Mandaue Reclation Area and Cebu and Mactan Boardwalk to Kawit Island and Talisay. When completed, this would make full use of the South Reclamation project to provide easy access and linking these areas.

Heard nothing about this!

2. Tourism Corridor Centerpieces
*** Cebu and Mactan Boardwalk (In Mandaue: Ampi-theater, family theme park, Marina Yatch Club, Restaurants, and many others)

Hmmm no one is working on the mandaue boardwalk. morag abandoned naman ning project.

*** Cebu Heritage and Cultural Center (Malacanang of the South)

I think naa na kani! haven't been there.

*** Kawit Island Tourism Facilities (Sea-plane landing area, an open-space concert hall, windsurfing facilities)

where is kawit island?

3. Relocation of Carbon Public Market

same place pa rin ang carbon

*** Market SRP properties

Tomas working on that now. With opposition from capitol.

*** Complement the Cebu Village Tourism Project
*** Decongest downtown Cebu City
*** Cater local buyers and tourists

Local tourists? Hmmm with the economic downturn... puro staycation ang nahitabo!

4. International Port and Cruise Ship Terminal
*** Develop future ecozones and IT parks in Cordova
*** Create a converging point for transportation systems
*** Interlink Cordova with the North to South LRT via underwater tunner

5. Integrated Transport System
*** LRT connecting to the Mactan Internation Airport. From the airport, it will connect to the Cebu International Port and Cruise Terminal. From the terminal, it will then connect to the Metro Cebu Tourism Corridor. The main terminal will be located beside SM City Cebu, and will connect to the North Coastal Road Project and to the South Reclamation Project

Nothing pa rin! Are they even making a feasibility study for these projects?

6. Cable Car System
*** Runs from the foot of Nivel Hills in Lahug going to Tops

This is just for tourists noh?

7. TEZ (Tourism Eco Zone)
*** Part of Punta Engano to become the Toursm Eco Zone (variety of hotels, theme parks, public pool, hanging bridge, shopping centers, restaurants, and other tourist attractions)

Is the Imperial Palace part of this?

Great news guys! No. 5 in the Cebu master plan will be going to be realized in 5 yrs time. it will be in phases though...to recall:

IN five years, Cebu will have its own light rail transportation similar to those in Manila, Rep. Eduardo R. Gullas (Cebu, 1st district) said yesterday.

Gullas said he secured last Wednesday the commitment of National Economic Development Authority (Neda) Secretary Augusto Santos to approve the creation of a Cebu Railway Project Office (CRPO).

There would be an unsettling disparity of wealth, but the plan could work! Look at Bali for example, a thriving international tourist destination which stands in stark contrast to the rest of Indonesia.

We here in Cebu cannot hope to cure the nation, but it is within our power to transform this place we call home into something special.

i agree...iv always felt that cebu needs an LRT for quite some time now. especially the fact that cebu is a linear island, an LRT would make a lot of sense and could hopefully spur economic growth on the municipalities and decongest metro cebu.

Both. LRT will be for the entire Cebu Province while BRT is only for Cebu City.
