North Korea is a Socialist regime and that system was pioneered by China and the Soviet Union prior to the Cold War. So like how the United States supported Democracy in the South so does China in the Socialist North. Both China and the U.S don't want to face containment from either powers.

Did the US wage germ warfare in Korea?

America denies using biological weapons in the Korean War. But North Koreans still claim the US dropped bombs containing disease-carrying insects and food.
Obligasyon man pod na sa U.S since they are the SOLE WORLD SUPERPOWER. Since sila paman ang pinakapowerful, task na nila ang pagmaintain sa peace sa kalibotan and any threat of war between is their job to stop even if it means intervention from their forces. The U.N is an organization supported by almost all nations in the world either big or small to police the world and make it free from wars so mu-intervene pud na sila pero ang ilang force dle ilaha kundi from member states sa U.N. Although I doubt the U.S is also using the U.N as it's means to maintain it's dominant posoition in the global arena.

    update:

    source N.Korea will 'back away'

WASHINGTON - CIA director Leon Panetta said on Sunday that he doesn't think rising tension between North and South Korea will result in a military confrontation.

But, he added, the Korean peninsula is in 'a dangerous period' because of efforts by North Korea's ailing 68-year-old leader, Kim Jong Il, to secure his youngest son's place as successor.

International investigators have concluded that North Korea torpedoed a South Korean warship in March, killing 46 sailors. North Korea has denied the allegation and warned any punishment would trigger war.

Mr Panetta said on ABC television that, for many years, 'we've been going through these kinds of provocations and skirmishes with a rogue regime.' In the end, he said, 'they always back away from the brink, and I think they'll do that now.'

US intelligence, Mr Panetta said, shows that a succession process in North Korea is going on. He said the warship attack could have been meant to establish credibility for Kim Jong Il's young, untested son.

The North has said it will choose new ruling party leaders later this year. The surprise announcement could be linked to Kim setting the stage for his youngest son, Kim Jong Un, to eventually succeed him. -- AP

source: N.Korea to boost nuke arms

SEOUL- NORTH Korea warned on Monday it would bolster its nuclear weaponry with an unspecified new method in response to what it called US hostility and recent developments.

'The recent disturbing development on the Korean peninsula underscores the need for the DPRK (North Korea) to bolster its nuclear deterrent in a newly developed way to cope with the US persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK and military threat toward it,' a foreign ministry spokesman said, without elaborating.

North Korea announced on May 12 it had conducted a nuclear fusion reaction, a process that can be used in making a hydrogen bomb. It did not link the allegedly successful experiment to its atomic weapons programme.

South Korean officials said they had detected an abnormally high level of xenon gas - a by-product of atomic tests - on May 14, but added there was no evidence a test had been carried out. Last September the communist state announced it had reached the final stage of enriching uranium, a second way of making nuclear bombs in addition to the admitted plutonium-based operation.

The North has reacted angrily to South Korea's moves to censure it at the United Nations for the sinking of one of Seoul's warships in March. It has denied responsibility and threatened a military response to any UN action.

Monday's statement came in response to the disclosure last week that the United States studied a plan for tactical nuclear strikes on North Korea in 1969, as one option in response to the downing of a US spy aircraft. The disclosure showed that the US 'has always watched for a chance to use nuclear weapons' against the North, the ministry spokesman said. -- AFP
