Nah, I've been using Ubuntu 7.10 and what you said ain't true. If you know how to work your way around XP/Vista.. then it's MUCH easier for you to use Ubuntu.

Which, from what I've observed, that strict security settings saved me alot from viruses.

1. You have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps you haven't used Linux since the 90s.
2. Complaining about the RAM requirements of an OS released in the past 2 years with an OS nearing decade old is like comparing XP to 3.1. Whining about system requirements is stupid. Either you don't have it or you do, but don't hold the requirements against the OS. Time for a change, upgrade your PC.

i havent tried it, but my friend keeps whining about his nvidia and linux not working on his laptop. WHICH linux i really dont know coz i really never cared. and this is getting out of topic

Official nVidia drivers are not required on Linux and if you wanted them, all your friend would have to do is install the restricted drivers, which on Ubuntu is two clicks. If you can't do that, I don't know how you are going to use Windows.

This is totally on topic. People talk about Vista and Linux without actually using them ... hence Vista is supposed to be very bad/needs to be "fixed" and Linux is hard with bad hardware support. People need to stop talking out of their ass and actually use the software as it was meant to be used, meaning meeting the system requirements, learning to use the environment, and sticking with it for more than first impressions of how pretty the GUI is.

Don't get me wrong.. Linux is way better than both XP and Vista.

whichever forum you stumble upon, when the topic is a vista vs xp/vista vs leopard, there will always be the self righteous linux user saying that its better than both.

Each OS has its own merits. Whatever tickles your fancy.
