yes. useless ang ideals kung wala'y action. maninguha jud ko nga makatabang jud ko in my own small way. dili ko ganahan nga sa sulti lang ko kutob.

nothing is easier done than said, my friend. this is a reality that we have to face. to cower and to lose hope in it is to basically give up and in effect not be able to do something.

uprising indeed eh? we can have one if we want... it is about time. people have suffered enough. our suffering will just be the same, perhaps even magnified, with new masters on board if we dare take the assimilation route. rizal did this in his time, not successful. aguinaldo did it with the US. look at what happened laurel and his traitorious cohorts did it during WW2. no can do. need we make the same mistake again?

but nobody said it will be soon. change does not happen overnight, especially in this magnitude... it is a long and protracted process of victories and setbacks. for us not to realize that this is our ticket out of this misery is to blindly grope in the dark for answers that will never come...

the people in power ARE benefiting with the current system. the "masa" knows that they are suffering, but cannot associate and percieve their suffering in a grander scope. we can. its up to us then, to let them see this. if we give up on this, we give up on our country. and we give up on ourselves.

then let us make the hope that we are betting on SURE and CERTAIN. instead of distancing ourselves, if we want things to change, then let us do our share. no sense on letting other people do the work with us reaping some of the benefits later, if it is to succeed. the more hands and minds work in unison together, the more likely the product to become better, the faster it is to be produced.

the purposes in each of our lives are different, my friend. some of us find contentment in caring for our families. some of us find joy in indulging in the whims of the self. but some people find completeness and fullness in the genuine service of the people.

"practical thinking" is a good thing. no boubt about that. but if to adhere to it and hamper and delay the awakening of the people to the true nature of their suffering... i am afraid i am very willing to sacrifice my "practicality". i may be one, and cannot do much... but at least i am an addition.

Gareb.. if the circumstances and events were different, I would be there by your side when if ever "that" time comes. I may not be as optimistic as you are I'm also not crazy about the idea of the country's situation right now. But.. as I've said, I'd rather spend all my energy towards my kids' welfare.

Gareb.. anybody can start an uprising.. making it successful is another. And I doubt that an uprising by the people will ever be successful unless a different "POWER" is backing it (with ulterior motives).

I don't think that the "suffering" being under the US Statehood would be that bad. If you would refer the way I live now as suffering, hey, I wonder how it is when I'm not suffering.

i dont blame you. when the time comes when i get kids of my own... my outlook may change... but i wont give up that easily... kids or no kids. and it is as if u cannot do your share and make a difference even if u have tots running all over the place.

my friend, there will ALWAYS be a power behind each and evey move for change. it is for us people that lies the initiative to prevent teh overtaking of our victories by certain entities with ulterior motives. we do not work hard and shed sweat and blood for it to be given all away to opportunists that may rise up after victory is achieved. our victory as a people must be secured. that is a prime objective.

unfortunately EZRA, your life now and the lives of countless pinoys if ever the philippines becomes another state does not necessarily have any correlation. u are living a life that the majority of the pinoys are wanting to have. a very big unaccounted factor is that certain perceptions/situations change if ever the country is assimilated.

just a little reality check though. if only your life there can be made an example of how the ordinary pinoy living in the philippines under the aegis of the USA, no conditions attatched, no hidden agendas under the table, no flowery words in disguise for the exploitation and oppression, nothing of that, then i am all for it. but unfortunately, that can never be the case. the USA is not necessarily the upholder of democracy and freedom that it wants to portray itself to be. let us not be fooled by the deceptions that it lays out for it to become the "hero" or the "savior" of the game. it never was anyway.

People have their opinions about the U.S. may it be true or not, as long as my children's future are in good hands, then I'm happy. Fact is, they have a brighter future here .. that's all that matters to me right now.

We will never know what would happen if the Philippines becomes a State (until the time when it happens.. if it happens). But all I'm saying is... if the way I live now is an idea on how a typical citizen lives, then things doesn't seem all that bad. It's just something to consider, you know. Retirement, Medicare, Education, etc...
