I know this kay nag petition man gud me sa ako wife and the marriage certificate we used was our civil wedding certificate. In Philippine Law we can only register one certificate so usually whichever comes first kay it would be awkward to hear na you went to church wedding first then civil i don't think this has ever happened yet, i doubt it.
Ako pod, i was married thru civil rites in October and had my church wedding in December during my birthday, that was my childhood dream, to get married on my birthday, but i had to anticipate it in october for documents processing purposes (my hubby is italian) so that by december everything had been ready. However the civil wedding was recognized on legal papers and what is registered officially both in Philippines and in Italy.

Stellina what did you mean by that? The marriage is binding here and abroad?

Yes, it was necessary to report to their civil service registrar the changes in my husband's status, thus we had to give an authenticated copy of marriage contract done in the Phils (in this case the one recognized in the Phils. was the civil wedding which came first), according to their law it is binding and i have all the rights of married women here. Moreover weddings done in Phils are recognized by italian law, so it has the same effect of marriage contracted here in Italy.

my mom & dad, i don't see any logic on this ---- civil the week before, Catholic church the following Saturday morning, then a Protestant garden wedding at the reception site... of all these, only the civil wedding is recognized both in the Philippines and abroad.... but they took nice pictures in the Catholic (very solemn looking) and Protestant (nive view and arrangment) weddings!

for me, civil.... or better yet, just send me the certificate and i'll sign it just like that.... i don't see any need to stand in front of somebody and say those chilly vows! i'd rather say it to my dearest in private....

Analysis: Started with civil... One is protestant one is catholic so neutral wedding. Then Catholic: the Catholic couldn't accept that they were considered to be "living in sin", so he/she pressed for a Catholic wedding. Third, the protestant wedding... The protestant thought, "If we have a Catholic wedding, we should have a protestant one as well."
