IN MY OPINION, ITS BETTER TO COMPARE THIS GUYS AFTER THEIR RETIREMENT, LET HISTORY BE THE JUDGE AMONGST THEM......
.................how old is Raul?? 27and he has accomplished almost everything in club level. The only thing he never won is a medal for his country because, c'mon, Spain has to beat Italy, Germany, that's difficult. Their stats is just synonymous with "history".........................
.....maybe Raul Julia is somewhat right, maybe the Galacticos are tired of winning, no hunger left for another trophy. As you can see most of the players have tasted the pinnacle of victory. There's nothing to prove anymore. The solution for Real's problem is to get some players that still haven't stepped in the spotlight, those players who are still eager for some trophies. Young blood.
..........i remember one time Figo and Zidane admitted that they are fed up of so much football.
.................as i read our discussion/arguement, i was so disappointed. Are we football fans?? or WWE fans?? We should show some professionalism and dignity here.
As a forum mod, i apologize to any bad comments i gave to anybody in this thread.
I hope you get my drift here........................
yep, thats why i stopped arguing with madues and started posting facts/stats......let the readers decided whos better.......
Real Madrid Names Luxemburgo as New Coach
MADRID (Reuters) - Real Madrid named former Brazil manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo as their third coach of the season Thursday in a bid to recapture the spark that brought them a record nine European Cups.
The surprise appointment of Luxemburgo, who has just led Santos to the Brazilian title, came at the end of a disappointing year for Real Madrid, whose fans demand constant success.
It ends the three-month reign of Mariano Garcia Remon who in turn replaced former Spanish national coach Jose Antonio Camacho after just four months in the job.
"It's not been an easy decision for us but...we think it is the best decision right now for Real Madrid," club vice-president Emilio Butragueno told a news conference at which he presented the new Brazilian coach.
"It's a very great responsibility for me...but I'm not afraid of responsibility," Luxemburgo said, adding that every coach wanted to manage Real Madrid.
Luxemburgo said he believed success in football was built on discipline, unity, work and professionalism as he prepared to take charge of a squad of "galacticos" that includes Brazilians Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos as well as Zinedine Zidane, Raul, Figo, David Beckham and Michael Owen.
Club officials said Luxemburgo had signed an 18-month contract and would bring a deputy coach and a physical trainer with him.
Real are the most successful club in the history of European football with 29 domestic league titles in addition to their European honors.
Real Madrid have also been linked to one of Santos' top players, Robinho. Club president Florentino Perez said recently that Real were keen to acquire an option to buy the striker at the end of the season.
In an interview with Real Madrid's Web Site Thursday, Perez said the club had had a very poor end to last season and had suffered a "block," perhaps due to pressure, although things were now slowly improving.
"My wish for 2005 is that we will definitively emerge from that situation and we will once again play the 'show' football that has made us admired throughout the world," he added.
In an open letter on the Santos official Web Site Thursday Luxemburgo said he had received an offer he could not refuse.
"I could not turn down an invitation from Real Madrid which is not just important for my career but also for Brazilian coaches," he said.
"The only reason for this decision is to fulfil one of the great dreams of my professional life."
Let us just see what Luxemburgo can do. A great coach is what they need for now.
What about Morientes? I hope that Real either give him more playing time or release him to some other teams.
I pity this guy, imagine he was a star at Monaco but now his languishing at Real's bench..But at least his not alone, Owen is right there with him....That should at least brightened things up.
Happy New Year to you all!!!!!!!
Happy new year to all.
This time i agree that EPL refs are the worst.![]()

Luxemburgo gets off to winning start at Real Madrid, with Zidane converting the penalty of a foul on Ronaldo..........
MADRID (AFP) - Real Madrid and Real Sociedad managed to finish their match almost a month after they started, and the hosts made the most of their second chance by grabbing a late winner for a 2-1 victory.
Goals from Ronaldo and Nihat Kahveci had left both sides level pegging when the match had to be suspended on December 12, but a Zinedine Zidane penalty gave Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo a winning start at his new club.
The two teams played out the final 2mins 40secs of regulation time and another four minutes of injury time on Wednesday after referee Vicente Lizondo Cortes had no choice but to call a halt first time around after an apparent bomb threat from the Basque nationalist group ETA.
"We showed complete concentration and great motivation," said Luxemburgo after the bizarre finale, which saw Real Sociedad make a round trip of 700 miles for just a few minutes of football and only to return empty-handed.
Luxemburgo decided to unnerve the visitors and throw everything at the San Sebastian side from the outset, in a game started by a goal kick from Real Sociedad goalkeeper Asier Riesgo.
"But don't expect every game to be like this. The next game will not be like this," added Luxemburgo, whose team face Atletico Madrid in the local derby on Sunday.
"However, as a team, we are playing well together and my philosophy is always to win," added the former Brazilian national coach, who only joined Real Madrid on Thursday.
Luxemburgo opted to start with Fernando Morientes alongside Ronaldo rather than England striker Michael Owen.
It looked like an inspired decision when the unsettled Spanish international, who had not started a game all season, had the first Real chance after barely two minutes.
Riesgo managed to save his side on that occasion but the constant pressure forced Sociedad defender Mikel Labaka to bundle Ronaldo to the ground a minute into injury time, and Zidane stepped up to convert from the spot.
"The way we played here, we could win the league, the Champions League and the cup," bragged Luxemburgo.
"Real Madrid created their chances and we couldn't have done anymore. I had the feeling we were going to be struck by an avalanche," conceded Real Sociedad coach Jose Maria Amorrotu.
Real Madrid climb two places to third and now have 32 points from 17 games ahead of their local derby against Atletico on Sunday.
However, the 29-times Spanish champions are still 10 points behind their arch rivals and runaway league leaders Barcelona.
