Default I Shall Not Wait...

i shall not wait

i shall not wait
not for love, or for sunset,
this dream, or another catch in my throat,
all these are minute eternities
to which heaven is nothing
but this, your memory.
i shall not wait
to stand in Jaipur with you,
to be lost in Venice's charm,
or cry for the lost temples of Laos,
carry myself through fields of gold,
and sleep under the stars.
i shall not wait
for this place in my head
hidden under red plaid blankets,
you and your smiles, your beauty,
safe from the scrutiny of my saints,
to become realities, all.
i shall not wait
for you never asked me to.

To These Eyes that Sting

to these eyes that sting
look no more for him,
he isnt there, nor will he be here
our time with him had passed.

to these ears that ache
search not for his laughter,
but those that are coming
not from his mouth, this time.

to these lips that thirst
trace not in memory his jaw,
or, the missed splendor of a second's gap
none leads to his heart.

to these feet that drag
dont stop in the place he loves,
not even his ghost dwells there
not even ours.

hands that remember
keep still while i write my farewell,
not to the lover that he was
but to the heart that loved him.

A poem written for bluemountain, months after i lost him to time.

Luminous Star

You came running to me at sunset
Your face streaked with tears
I reached for your hand while you wept
Your eyes red with sadness and fear
I didn't dare ask what happened
I was afraid to take the risk
I just waited for your trembling voice
As the air doubled with mist.

You told me you love her
You told me you cared
You just couldn't take the hurt
The pain was too much for you to bear
She loves somebody else you knew
Someone you could never be
There's nothing you can do
But your heart just caouldn't set her free
You said there will never be another
You just couldn't let her know
It's not worth the loss of her friendship
You're afraid to let it show.

Tears started welling again
It's too much of a burden
You asked me for my strongets advice
As you watched me with those hopeful eyes
I looked at you with sympathy
My feelings were torn apart
"Wait for twilight", I told you gently
"And try to star a far
Look at the luminous sky above
And wish he rname on a star.."
"All you can do is wait and see
You'll know if she's here to stay,
If she doesn't then turn your back
And be ready to face the coming day.."
"I know it'll hurt, the wound will be deep
But time heals it doesn't stay long
Just remember that the scar will always be there
To remind you of a past long gone.."

Your face lit up, I couldn't help but smile
Ignoring the turmoil inside
You saw light, hope splitting the dark.
As you bid a greatful goodbye
And watched youw alked away
Still hoping you would hear
I wept in slinece as I stood outside
My eyes red with sadness and fear
The sunset has passed, the twilight is here
I tried to stare a far
Looking at the luminous sky above
I wished your name on a star.

HELENA

It’s been awhile
Since we saw each other
I smiled at you
As if it’s been just yesterday

I saw how the gray lines of time
Streak your once ebony hair
How wrinkles messed up your soft face
But you still have the
Eyes of a wanderer
Full of life

It’s been years
Since I’ve kept you in my heart
Till my hands are too old
Enough to hold a cup of tea

But now you right in front of me
Time flies by so fast
But it’s never late
Finally you came back home
Home to me
