amd or intel?

actually, it depends on your needs and wants.

if you are into digital video, i suggest you should use Intel.

if you don't want to upgrade for the next three years, then I prefer
to buy Intel. this is because Intel cpu is very expensive.

if you sum-up the cost of buying amd and intel systems, you would see
that amd is cheaper but the price difference is very minimal. this is due
to the fact that you would buy a separate HSF for amd and add more cooling utilities inside your casing.

the only advantage of amd is when you upgrade wherein you can buy an amd cpu on tray which is cheaper. unlike intel, you should buy it in a box which is very expensive.

Actually, if you've scanned through the net looking for answers which is better, intel or amd.. You'll find out that both parties are trying to leap over the other. If last month, the Athlon 3200+ reigned, then today the intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz kicks off 3200+ out! There are lots of review sites for the intel vs amd topic. It's fun to read and also good for us (consumers), because without AMD, intel would be overpricing their products. Or the other way around.

for the sake of this discussion. AMD is faster than any Intel setup provided we compare them in equal terms like Mhz to Mhz and Cost to Cost... as numerously pointed out, AMD has more bang for the buck.

I will glady challenge any Intel users out there to a "Benchmark Slugfest" (Static or Actual Applications) based on the terms stated above.

these are just for overclockers and hobbyists. even in intel systems you have to buy high performance HSF and other case fans if you want to overclock stably. If you're simply an end-user... stock AMD system will do.

That is right. I recently put together a system for my brother. He uses it just for office work and his kid's schoolwork. With his budget I could easily have fit in a Celeron 2 Ghz system but at slightly lesser price I assembled a system around an AXP 2100+ (mao ray stock). Now admittedly this processor power is underutilized now but he now has a good fast system at stock ready for multimedia learning and gaming upgrades in the future.

Mura man gud Multicab ug Accord available at the SAME price. Unsa man akong paliton? Hmmm.....
