ask the doctors here pls...TAMIFLU and RELENZA, is wat is usually given with our seasonal flu and that is always the instruction given by doctors to patients.

i asked them too, one time even before swine flue emerged...why not all patients are given this medication and from that it was explained why!

that it wont work if symptoms have been noted more than 24-48hrs window period!

But in the US, you cannot buy these drugs without a written prescription from the doctor first. So in order for a person to get Tamiflu and Relenza, that person needs to go to the doctor first and the doctor must make a diagnosis, the person brings the prescription to the pharmacy to be filled. If the person has prescription insurance, most of the time, the pharmacist needs to call the insurance to get approval. A typical conversation is something like this:
Pharmacist: Hi! We need to submit a claim for Tamiflu.
Insurance person: When was the member (patient) diagnosed? Is the date of filling within the the 2-day period?
Pharmacist: Yes.
Insurance person: Ok, run the prescription through again, it should be approved.

Flu season in the US usually starts from Nov until March. When a person experiences the usual symptoms, they usually seek medical help faster coz at the back his/her mind, basin naa siya flu, coz it falls during flu season (Nov-Mar).
