Plot Summary: It's New Year's Eve and festivities have begun aboard the luxury cruise ship Poseidon, at sea in the North Atlantic.
One of the finest vessels of its kind, Poseidon stands more than 20 stories tall, boasts 800 staterooms and 13 passenger decks.
Tonight, many of the ship's guests have gathered to greet the new year in style in the magnificent Main Ballroom. They raise champagne glasses as Captain Bradford (Andre Braugher) delivers a holiday toast and the band rolls into a version of Auld Lang Syne.
Meanwhile, on the bridge, the Chief Officer senses that something is wrong.
Scanning the horizon, he sees it – a Rogue Wave; a monstrous wall of water over one hundred feet high, bearing down on them with tremendous speed. He tries to steer the ship away from maximum impact but it's too late.
The wave strikes with colossal force, pitching the ship heavily to port before rolling it completely upside down. Passengers and crew are thrown into free fall, crushed by debris or dragged into the sea as water bursts in through shattered windows. Supports collapse, broken gas lines ignite flash fires and lights fail, leaving vast sections of the ship in darkness and chaos.
In its aftermath a few hundred survivors are left to huddle in the still-intact Main Ballroom, now resting below the waterline. They should stay together, the captain maintains, and wait here for rescue.
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!

Summer's 10 Biggest Movies
Unlike last year, Hollywood has stacked this summer with a comparatively amazing slate of features the public actually might want to see, including some movies that may even be pretty good, too. I'm not saying there won't be a few duds like last year's "The Island": A few eyebrows will be raised over the box-office performances of "Lady in the Water" and "You, Me and Dupree" (tough sells for their studios). Still, here are the movies your friends and neighbors will be willing to sit through the pre-show entertainment to see...
10. "Miami Vice"
Releasing: July 27
Estimated Take: $105 million
Why: Michael Mann may have made a movie that's too cool for summer, but it's hard to imagine his re-tooling of his classic TV show making any less than 2004's "Collateral." Universal can thank Jamie Foxx, little competition in late July and slick TV spots.
What To Look For: Gong Li ("Memoirs of a Geisha") plays a villainous drug smuggler, this time under the direction of a real movie director.
9. "Poseidon"
Releasing: May 12
Estimated Take: $180 million
Why: Never underestimate the power of a giant tsunami to drive the American public to the movies. "Poseidon" may not have an A-list star, but waves in disaster pictures rule. Just ask director Wolfgang Petersen. He rode a big one in "The Perfect Storm" all the way to the bank.
What To Look For: Lots of amazing stunt work. "Poseidon" employs ample CGI on the outside of the ship, but the inside action was a stuntman's dream.
8. "The Da Vinci Code"
Releasing: May 19
Estimated Take: $200 million
Why: There is no doubt that this controversial novel has a hard-core fan base that is dying to see their favorite characters brought to life on the big screen. But blockbusters generally live on the repeat business of teens and kids, and they won't be racing to see this one. Then again, if enough of their parents decide to journey to the theater, "Da Vinci's" number could grow.
What To Look For: The cast has been tight lipped after orders from the producers, but one thing is a given -- don't expect the ending to change.
7. "Mission: Impossible III"
Releasing: May 5
Estimated Take: $205 million
Why: Sometimes you gotta feel for Tom Cruise. Word is that "M:I III" is a very fun ride and his best movie in quite awhile (thank you, J.J. Abrams). However, May is murder for summer releases and Cruise faces "Poseidon," "The Da Vinci Code" and "X-Men: The Last Stand" over subsequent weeks. That's gonna hurt.
What To Look For: Haven't seen that "money shot" to entice you to buy a ticket yet? It's there, but the filmmakers are just trying to save some surprises for the theater.
6. "Cars"
Releasing: June 9
Estimated Take: $210 million
Why: It's hard setting the standard for computer animation as Pixar has for over the past decade. However, the buzz from exhibitors is that their latest opus may not generate the repeat viewing from audiences other than the little kiddies. That means "Cars" may not reach the box-office levels of "Finding Nemo" or "The Incredibles." Not that $200 million is anything to cry about.
What To Look For: An intense opening car-racing sequence and a great vocal performance from Paul Newman.
5. "X-Men: The Last Stand"
Releasing: May 26
Estimated Take: $220 million
Why: It's being billed as the "final" chapter of a series no one knew was a trilogy (did you?). It's the only major movie opening on Memorial Day weekend. It will face competition from "Poseidon," "Da Vinci" and "Hedge," but being the new kid on the holiday is huge. Plus, it faces no real threats in its genre until "Superman Returns" opens five weeks later.
What To Look For: Lots and lots of death. Unless, of course, the studio changes its mind at the last minute and wants the whole gang to come back for "X4."
4. "Click"
Releasing: June 23
Estimated Take: $230 million
Why: Last summer Adam Sandler starred in the abominable "The Longest Yard" and managed to wring $160 million out of it. This summer he's starring in a comedy that actually looks funny and should appeal to teens, adults and kids. Lesson learned? Never doubt Happy Gilmore's appeal, especially in a PG-13 movie.
What To Look For: Kate Beckinsale as a housewife. You'd buy it, right?
3. "Superman Returns"
Releasing: June 30
Estimated Take: $275 million
Why: It's been almost 20 years since a "Superman" movie was released, and this one aims to return the franchise to greatness. So why won't it be number one? It's most likely going to end up over two-and-a-half hours long, and there is that little "Pirates" movie opening only one week later.
What To Look For: Lex Luthor still loves real estate, except this time he won't settle for just sinking California into the ocean.
2. "Over The Hedge"
Releasing: May 19
Estimated Take: $325 million
Why: This is a tough one. Word is "Hedge" is much better than last summer's uneven "Madagascar." However, four weeks after "Hedge" opens it faces what will definitely be a monster opening for Pixar's "Cars." Will "Hedge" appeal enough to adults and kids to let it weather the storm? The Hitlist says yes.
What To Look For: Steve Carell stealing the show (again) as Hammy the crazy, rabid squirrel.
1. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"
Releasing: July 7
Estimated Take: $325 million
Why: There is a treasure trove of reasons. After "Superman," it's the last big blockbuster to hit theaters, and that gives it very little competition in the family-film market. Also, there is that little thing of audiences loving Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
What To Look For: More supernatural craziness and a special surprise that leads into the third "Pirates" movie.
Potential Breakouts: Jack Black is "Nacho Libre"; the already cult-worthy "Snakes on a Plane"; Jennifer and Vince in "The Break Up"; the Sundance lovefest "Little Miss Sunshine"; Justin Long makes up college in "Accepted"; and Uma flies in "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."
