Before submitting your dead CPU for repair, try these do-it-yourself fixes first:
CAUTION: Do not attempt these tangtang-taod fixes if you are not confident you can do it properly/correctly, else you will cause further damage to your system.
1. if processor fan is not turning after you turn on power button, could be dead power supply or shorted motherboard.
2. if processor fan is turning:
a) try to clean processor heatsink, apply fresh thermal paste, and re-seat processor, memory, and video card.
b) disconnect all drives, modem card, lan card, sound card, etc.
c) review jumper settings and set the correct jumper settings for Bus Speed, Frequency Multiplier, and I/O Voltage according to your mobo manual.
d) replace CMOS battery and clear CMOS.
3. if you don't hear any beeps or you don't see any display after switching power button on even if processor fan is turning, could be dead processor, dead BIOS, defective motherboard.
i can help you isolate the problem component, or fix your motherboard/BIOS if found defective.
boss, mind sharing your idea here... naa ko isa ka extra pc, and im having a problem coz some time ang master hdd dili madetect and the usahay madetect pud. wat woud be the possible cause of this? or is it the hardisk ang naa problem or ang mobo? tnx
here's how to isolate what is causing that problem and how to correct it:
1. loose HDD power connector
ipakyu-om (if that's the right bisdak term) ug balik ang mga lungag anang HDD power connector. if you notice, wangwang na kaayo ang ubang metal sleeve ana. humok ra man na, kuhita lang den apply some inward force.
2. defective IDE cable
try changing to a known good cable.
3. incorrect IDE jumper setting
review your jumper setting if master ba jud, do not use cable select if possible.
4. incorrect IDE cable connection
adto i-connect ang HDD connector sa tumoy sa cable, ayaw sa tunga kay sa slave na.
5. a slave device is causing conflict on the primary channel
tangtanga whatever slave device is present.
6. defective primary channel
didto i-connect ang HDD sa secondary channel, mo-boot ra gihapon na basta walay naka-connect sa primary channel as master.
7. incorrect BIOS settings
set settings of Primary Channel to AUTO...AUTO, or use Auto-Detect feature in BIOS.
8. HDD heat problem
try to feel with your hands kon sobra ba ka init ang HDD after some time. mo-auto shut off man gud na ang HDD kon mo-exceed sa maximum allowable temperature ang iyahang actual operating temperature. if sobra jud ka init, it's an internal HDD malfunction (logic board or hard drive asembly) and there's no known long-lasting solution for that except to replace.
9. presence of physical bad sectors in HDD
this is one of the culprits of intermittent HDD operation. you need to find somebody who can repair physical bad sectors. if you want, i can help you on this.
tnx ill try sir
I tried your 1st and second suggestions... the 1st one didnt work. the second one, I got a blank screen... there is an option in the manual that if I am using a notebook and if I got a blank screen, just press Fn + f4... but I am using a desktop so i just press f4... sad to say still there's no display... I quit the application. In the 3rd suggestion, I only have a dos version of Ontrack EasyRecovery Professional. I also tried it but it didnt work. I just save the data in remaining accessible partitions in other networked computer. After saving, I dont know what happened because the disk detection is now intermitent... Swerte kay na save pa nako ang data sa other partitions.Originally Posted by ruelnov
