Para nako, depende ra jud na sa situation.. If justifiable iabort then go. If dili, like resulta sa kiat2x, they should take responsibility for it. So ayaw lang ilegalize..

and may i add a third one:

    3. when through ultrasound or whatever technology, it is shown that the child has major physical deformation.

to prevent fraud, all these instances must be supported by certification by the DSWD and MEDICO LEGAL for rape victims, or by the ATTENDING PHYSICIAN noted by the HEAD PHYSICIAN of the hospital before the procedure will be done para dli mag drama2x ra na na rape or at risk or naa diperensya.

Also, dapat limited hospitals lang ang accredited to perform the procedure.

It should not be performed due to the reason lang na nasipyat, bata pa kaayo, daghan na ug anak, and other irresponsible reasons. That is why the RH bill should be passed into law so that the people especially those in the lower strata of the society could have an INFORMED CHOICE and they can have access to contraceptives.

ofcourse Abortion should be a last resort. but atleast let the mothers or the couple have a choice because it is their body, their life at risk.
well said... thats a very good reason why there should be the RH bill..

the first ones to attend such seminars are those who are against this so they will understand what this is..

to the mods... is it possible to please change the title of this thread.. it seems new posters are commenting on the title rather than the first posts.. which is totaly misleading for the purpose of equating the RH-bill to abortion..

its quite disgusting that for some fanatical catholics who preach so-called righteousness to use such dirty tactics..

Bro the thread clearly states Legalize Abortion?.. there's no need to change that. You can open a new thread about RH bill which of course does not promote abortion.

    its a simple trick..

many new posters here dont even read the RH-bill or the part we are discussing/debating

(i admit for one, that i didnt read the boring parts, or irrelevant parts, though im open the idea of reading the parts i skipped) but ive read enough that i know the bill states it doesnt support abortion but also does not says it will not provide medical support to those who've undergone the procedure already..

its a simple marketing gimmick really... and quite deceptive

i call the attention of the mods to take appropriate actions regarding misleading titles

it would have been appropriate to say something like "possible legalization of abortion thru RH-bill"

most of the arguments here really is when life becomes life and when contraception is cosnidered murder...

that would be a redundant thread and would most be probably be merged with this older thread anyway..

Philippine lawmakers to push family planning bill

MANILA, Philippines – A group of Philippine lawmakers said Thursday it will try to pass a family planning bill with backing from the country's new president despite strong opposition from the Roman Catholic Church.

Members of the House of Representatives advocating family planning told reporters they will begin public hearings in two weeks on six different versions of the proposed law to come up with a single comprehensive reproductive health bill that will include family planning, improved maternal and child care, prevention of unsafe abortions, safeguarding of women's rights and poverty reduction.

Rep. Edcel Lagman, one of the bill's main proponents, said they will work to pass the measure before Congress adjourns next June.
He said opposition to the bill comes mainly from the church hierarchy, not from ordinary citizens in the predominantly Catholic nation.
Lagman said he is confident President Benigno Aquino III _ who recently stirred debate over family planning by expressing support for the right to contraceptives _ will back the bill.
Rep. Jose Maria Zubiri said the country's "overrapid and unsustainable population growth ... has already become a national security issue."

"Many of our problems in the Philippines stem from the fact that too many Filipinos make too many children that they cannot afford to take care of," he said. "The population growth of the last 30 years was faster than the economic growth that could support it."
The country's population, estimated at 94 million, is about double what it was 30 years ago. About 10 percent of Filipinos work abroad "not because they want to but because they have to," he added.
Lagman said about 100 of the 278 House members already are co-authors of the various versions of the proposed reproductive health law. He said he is confident the final version of the bill will get majority support when it is put to a vote.
Aquino's predecessor, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, opposed the bill during her nine-year administration.
Aquino, who took office four months ago, has met leaders of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines and explained to them that he supports responsible parenthood and does not back any particular birth control method.
Catholic church leaders have argued that artificial contraceptives cause abortions and lower morality. They also oppose *** education, which is included in the proposed reproductive health bills, saying it is primarily the responsibility of parents.
Rep. Luz Ilagan of the women's party Gabriela said the proposed law will limit unsafe abortions by reducing unwanted pregnancies caused by a lack of knowledge of family planning methods.
An estimated 560,000 women in the Philippines in 2008 sought abortions involving crude and painful methods, according to a report released in August by the New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights.
About 90,000 women suffer from abortion complications and an estimated 1,000 die each year, the report said, adding that complications are among the top 10 reasons women seek hospital care.
