ha ha ha ha ha ha dear kid i do go over there from time to time, since also teach Doce Pares in a University. Just ask Borces Sensei about me, he is 5th dan Shorin ryu karate and 6th dan Arnis.
I believed you… No need in confirming to Sensei George Borces.

Sensei Lyndon Melendrez and Mr. Clifford Jao had trained with the Korean Kendo Instuctor, perhaps you can inquire to them regarding your concern if you happen to visit their dojo at Sto. Nino.

No offense meant. I’m just passionate in sharing my views regarding the different martial art disciplines…

Michbern, i'm also an aikidoka but i don't practice sa baseline. ni practice ko sa musubi dojo and we are affiliated sa aikikai. in short, we have a direct connection to japan (the school of the founder) and we get updates yearly coz naa man shihan (japanese teacher) nga mo teach namo new techniques. aikido is really very good.. i'm still stuck to it right now. just pm me if you wanna join us.

----Thats exaclty the point , for those who are not familiar, They wont know., but those who are well versed on Japanese Art its totaly different.
Its just surperficial to say such.
And there you have said it, kendo and kumdo practitioner. For example Kenjutsu and Kendo are both Japanese sword art, are they the same? for art, i never heared that kenjutsu and kendo are the same. Similar? yes, Same- No!

since both Martial Arts are dealing with wooden swords... The Kendo bamboo sword, known as, "Shinai," in Japanese and "Juk Do," in Korean, is a key element of partner practice in Kumdo. The wooden sword, "Bokken," in Japanese and "Mok Kum" in Korean, is also a common training tool.

well its wrong to say just because they use shinai and bokken it quailifies it to be Kendo. bokken is not even a accurate word for it . bokken means wooden sword, whether its its a Chinese, Korean, Filipino wooden sword, it can be called bokken. Japanese wooden sword is called Bokuto.

nationwide revisionist stance, Koreans wholesale refuse to admit the sport's origins, and instead call it "kumdo," insisting that it originated in Korea.

---- because there were changes during the past years. Its has been change to a Korean version.

----In regards to a the attrocities comitted by the Japanese, its true , have you read the the rape of Nanking?. I have a Korean friend who talk to me about that. he practice Aikkai Aikido here in Cebu.

----But to say Kumdo and Kendo is same, thats not true. Well some folks would say just because they look similar

---- Just curios have you study Kendo or Kumdo?

----Check this out History of Kumdo.

    A Brief History of Kumdo

A direct translation of "Kumdo" is "the way of the sword." The art of the sword in Korea evolved from a martial art heritage reaching back more than three thousand years to the time of the Bronze Age. Archeological records indicate that the sword and its art were a part of daily life in Korean antiquity to defend territorial hold extending from Manchuria to Korean peninsula and early settlements in the Japanese main island.

i think i know the person you're refering as your korean friend who practices aikikai aikido because i'm one of the students sa aikikai aikido and you're korean friend also teaches me some techniques when our sensei is not around. and we're also practicing how to use the weapons like "bokken" (wooden sword) and the "jo" (the wooden sword), the japanese shihan teaches us these techniques and katas for these weapons and i can say that we're the only ones who are practicing those. by the way, not all dojos in japan practices these weapons. some blackbelters there in japan doesn't even know how to use them. they study in another dojo (hombu dojo) just to learn these weapons.

Hi i'm baddog, i am a student of taekwondo when i was 6 yrs old and then i join hard kung-fu martial when i was in highschool until today i mastered leopard, dog crane, snake, eagles claw, tiger claws, mantis boxing and 3 waves of dragon and now i do taichi and aikido... i joined tournament 36 times and i got only 2 loses. But in my experience all martial arts here are dangerous and capable to kill people only by hand to hand combat. It is depend how to use your martial arts style.. By the way i need 5 members on my team to join free styla martial arts next year.. And my team named tan-su-u martial arts in mandarin they called it Tai-kido.

I am a Kickboxer and an Aikidoka. I'd started studying these Discipline on the year 1997. I am curious about "Taikido", I only heared it twice and I have no idea what is it?Only wild guess, is it a combination of Taichi and Taekwondo?or not? Please give me a bird's eye view of that Discipline.
