SANTO DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur – The M. Lhuillier-Cebu Ninos resume their Liga Pilipinas campaign today against the unpredictable Quezon Red Oilers this afternoon at the Santo Domingo People’s Center.
The Ninos of Coach Yayoy Alcoseba and Michel Lhuillier are coming off their game against the highly-rated Taguig Batang Global last night.
Quezon of Gov. Raffy Nantes is bannered by former PBA players and native Quezonians Mark Magsumbol and Cris Bolado. The Ninos are expected to train their defense primarily on the duo but Red Oilers coach Oliver Bunyi has many other weapons in Jorel Canizarez, Ian Garrido, Chico Manabat, Joseph Lingao-Lingao, Hafer Mondragon and Ramsey Williams.
Coach Alcoseba has a veritable All-Star roster at his disposal led by Stephen Padilla, Bruce Dacia, Marlon Basco, Ron Capati, Ian Saladaga, Jerry Cavan and Danny Aying. The veterans will be backstopped by the best Cebuano young talents in Mark Ababon, Ariel Mepana, Mike Luga, Jayford Rodriguez and Rino Berame from the multi-titled UV Lancers and latest addition JR Atablanco from Davao.
The Cebuanos are among the early favorites in the league sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. Selected Liga games are shown over IBC-13 and NBN-4.
In the main game, the host Ilocos Sur Bravehearts of Gov. DV Savellano and Coach Jun da Jose will battle the Harbour Centre-backed Batang Global of Mayor Freddie Tinga and Coach Jude Roque.
Meanwhile, games down south will shift to the Mayor Arturo Lugod Gym in Gingoog City with the Baguio Victory of Coach D’jalma Arnedo playing the Trace-Laguna Stallions of Erwin Genuino and Coach Nomar Isla at 3:00 PM and the host Misamis Oriental Meteors of Gov. Oscar Moreno and Coach Jun Noel meeting the Pagadian Explorers of Mayor Sammy Co and Coach Eric Samson at 5:00PM.
