They deserve to have one since Secretary of tourism declare Bohol as major tourist destination. Boholanus are famous of being friendly and hospitable and safe place to have your vacation esp. for a foreigner.

Great proposal!,.. i hope madayun ni..........

If I were to be asked, an international airport is very very unfeasible. The more with the planned international airports in Bacolod and Iloilo. The situation is very much the same in Luzon. There they have three international airports at close proximity to each other (Subic, Clark, NAIA). The government shouldn't have built the NAIA T3 in the first place if they want the DMIA in Clark to replace it. They should have just focused on the development of the DMIA.

We don't even have airtraffic that can rival Bangkok's or Tokyo's and yet we have so many "desolate" international airports -- and we keep on creating new ones! Where will the government get money to maintain it at international standards?

In my opinion, there SHOULD ONLY be THREE international airports in the country -- DMIA (Clark) for Luzon, MCIA for Visayas, and the Davao IA for Mindanao.. The rest of the airports in the country should just be upgraded and developed as domestic airports that are directly linked to the three international airports. Those that do not have airports should have road networks and highways, and better port facilities for interisland shipping.
Actually, Luzon has 4 int'l airports. These are Subic, Clark, NAIA & Paoay in Ilocos because of the Marcoses. Heck, if Imelda could only stop the typhoons in Leyte then she would put one there too.

I think Luzon needs 2, NAIA for Metro Manila & Subic for budget flights and cargo since i think they have better facilities over clark regardless if the latter is an airbase subic also has a more strategic location over clark.

    1 in Cebu & 1 in Davao.

that proposal is impossible since there is an international airport nearby bohol which is mactan cebu international airport. a trip from cebu to bohol would only take 30 to 45 minutes by a ship. what's the purpose of having an international airport in bohol!!!?? sayang sayang lang na sa wawart!! daghana ra ba blema pinas.!!

.. Bohols officials should first take care of it's gateways locally, build more wharfs around it's island and develop the existing airport.

No offense to bohol ... but focusing on MCIA will compliment the MEGADOME. Anyway, when tourists wants to go R&R. The nearest is Bohol.
    Bohol ... minutes away.

I read on the news today that the Mayor of Panglao is against this project. He says this will ruin the serenity of panglao which tourists loves most.

Exactly, as Yap said Bohol should just develop its interisland facilities and linked itself up to Cebu. Aside from that,if it really wants to have an international airport that has "traffic" then it should first develop its city like build new roads, develop and promote Panglao Island as a better alternative to Mactan's beaches, etc...

Bohol has two airports, Ubay & Tagbilaran, if politicians are so worried of getting their tourists on the ground.

If they only use logic, international airports are airports catering to majorly international flights. There is no point in having an international airport when majority of movement comes from within the country and with CATEGORY A & B (light) aircraft. other countries with B737's and Dash-8's flying in and out do not have every single airport designated 'international' considering the amount of traffic they generate.

I agree with the idea of having 2-3 international airports in Luzon, 1 in Visayas, and 1 in Mindanao to serve as hubs to the rest of the three main group of islands.

if you want panglao to be a worldclass resort

do you want the buzzing sound of the plane landing or taking off while you relax in the beach in panglao

you would also like to put an airport in boracay lets see how many people go to boracay when there are planes flying and landing......

and its not about numbers too....

    2-3 internation airports in Luzon....

why not put a 1 internation airport like Chep lok Kok in Hong Kong which handles more people....

1 big effficient international airport is better than 2-3 small international airports......

    Its not a numbers game......

Exactly but I guess even Luzon doesn't need 2-3 airports.. One is enough since traffic is not as large as Bangkok or Hongkong.. Hongkong and Bangkok do not even maintain two international airports. Luzon's airport should be the one in Clark. It's very big already, NAIA should have transferred there long ago; it shouldn't have even built T3 in the first place..

it would be every air traffic controller's wish to see a clear screen infront of him.Â* on the side of safety and effeciency, an airport should be able to accomodate possible maximum calculated traffic than be built to cater for normal heavy traffic.Â* areas with expected heavy traffic, such as luzon, need the present number of international airports.

commercial operations such as charter, freight, and regular pubic transport (airlines) is all about efficiency in terms of time and fuel.Â* taxiing behind multiple aircraft, on queue behind aircraft at the holding point for take-off, holding in sequence for a landing burn extra time and fuel.Â* extra time is an expense for both the company, pilots (with regards to flight and duty time limitations) and passengers.Â* extra fuel burnt is an extra, unwanted company expense.
