we need more powerful fiscal policies.

The remittances of the OFWs really contribute to the strengthening of the Peso. But not only that, influx of foreign investments also contributed to the strength of the Peso. Furthermore, the weakening of the US dollar may also be a factor. These dependents of OFWs who are complaining just don't know how to save the money sent by their relatives abroad. The government has a program to teach the families of OFWs how to make use of the money. They just spend, spend, and spend. It's just called irresponsibility.
i think we should look on the entirety of things... how does the value of PESO really affect our way of living? to our cost of living? how much percentage of the whole philippine population benefits its rise?
funny though coz i remember the past few years filipinos were whining much about the fall of PESO and how they wished it would rise back... they blame the high dollar rate for being poor.... now the PESO is more stronger... and we still don't have money... and part of it we put the blame on the low exchange rate...
hmmmm.... gets me to thinking... is it really the reason? think think think....

as what my friend would always say and i quote, " Mao nang dili gyud mo asenso ang ubang pilipino kay magsige lang ug reklamo.. "
we'll... we cannot please everybody at the same time

Originally Posted by digitalsuperman

bottom line, wa gihapon ayo.
It's a fact that the bulk of OFW remittances helped a lot in the appreciation of peso. Coupled with economic reforms, the peso continues to strengthen. As such, it is not solely the work of the OFWs that the peso is appreciating. However, the appreciating peso has adverse effects to those who are working abroad and those who are exporting since they will have lower revenues. The good side of it is that we are generally a country relying on importation. As such, it will be generally good for us to strengthen the peso.
it is really ironic that the person who helped strengthen the peso are the ones affected by it. tsk3x...
I just hope that powerful peso translates to stronger buying power (locally). Para tanan malipayon.
