WLAN to share the internet needs an access point.
the laptop can never be an access point. I have read about a software to make wireless LAN cards or pc cards to act like an access point but by default they are not access points.

i've a friend who had setup a wireless lan with internet without any access point. so i think ad-hoc would work too. how..i haven't have the chance to try one.
in adhoc mode, all wireless clients talk with each other. In this case, all wireless clients will have LWL as their gateway.
In the wired side, the LAN card of LWL will do internet connection sharing.
I'm still a bit busy these days but hopefully by weekend i can come up with a set up on this and i'll update everyone.
interesting set up...... wait lang ko sa result....
why not follow vern's advise.if you have a wireless router and both your laptops have a wireless adaptors, then why do still need your other laptop to act as your server?
Kenchie... Buying a wireless router would cost cash 2,500 i think
I dont think he has an access point... What he has i think is a dsl-router with an ethernet cable attatched to his laptop...Originally Posted by UCAV
This would work... definitely as long as ur adapters support iBSS (ad-hoc) modeOriginally Posted by Tamblot

yep. most wireless LAN client adapter, whether PCI or PCMCIA supports adhoc mode.
ad-hoc should work. i tried it myself.Originally Posted by UCAV

@gsirk - no need for internet connection sharing basta naa ka wireless router.
just configure the right settings for your router to let other clients/wireless laptop and
other pc's to connect.
just search the router name from your wireless router and connect. thats it. if pwd protected
then input the pwd.

hi how can i setup My Laptop with Wireless LAN so it allows Some Laptop with Wireless LAN to use My Laptop with Wireless LAN's internet connection?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
diagram suggests that Router has no wireless capability & user wants wireless connections to other wireless enabled laptops:
> implement internet connection sharing
> adhoc for wlan
This makes "my laptop with wlan" the gateway of those devices in the wlan. Not yet tried but i think this will work...
Set both laptops wifi to ad-hoc mode.Originally Posted by netcommando
Turn on ICS or run proxy programs such as squid or winproxy on the laptop connected to router.
Setup the other laptop to use ICS or the browsers proxy settings to point to the IP of laptops on the router.
