errr no.."dual core" is a generic term. just like when you say 'dual channel memory' or 'pci-e video card'.Originally Posted by SHENGTON
core duo & core 2 duo are the intel dual core chips chips (as well as the core 2 quad & core 2 extreme)
athlon 64 x2, athlon 64 fx, athlon x2 - amd's
but yeah both means they have 2 cores on the same chip
main thing is dual core processors are processors that have 2 cores. (a core 2 duo is just an example of many dual core processors)
examples of dual core processors are:
amd athlon 64 x2
amd turion
intel core 2 duo
intel pentium d
intel pentium dual core
in conclusion, all core 2 duo are dual core processors
but not all dual core processors are core 2 duo.

(no, becoz naapud dual core processors ang intel namely core 2 duo, pentium d, pentium dual core)
core 2 duo --> Intel
(correct kay intel man gikan ang core 2 duo)

Ana diay na. Karon naa gyud ko nasabtan.. hehehe..
Basically all the processors you have mentioned are all dual core.
core 2 duo is the crown processors for Intel that made them snatch it from AMD.
Core 2 duo simply has entirely different core than the pentium D. And simply core 2 duo is way more emproved, enhanced, way faster and cooled down version over the Pentium D.
AMD on the Other hand has their Athlon 64 x2 currently they still has to release their new processors that will beat intel.
thanks sa info mga bro
Thanks for the correction sir...Originally Posted by Der FüHRER
