I have problem with ICS sharing with Win2k. this is my setup..
=================================
MODEM (ZyXel)- SWITCH - Workstation (Win2k and WinME)
=================================
-----------------------------------------
Win2k - 2 lancards installed
nic1:
IP ADDRESS: 210.213.116.143
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.248
DEFAULT GATEWAY: 210.213.116.141
-
PREFERRED DNS: 203.172.11.21
ALTERNATE DNS: 203.172.11.25
nic2:
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.2.1
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
DEFAULT GATEWAY: (BLANK)
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
WinME - 1 lancard
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.2.2
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
DEFAULT GATEWAY: (BLANK)
-----------------------------------------
PLDT gave us 5 IP .. 210.213.116.141 - MODEMs IP

1. Where will I Check the ICS on Win2k. the Nic1 or Nic2 ?
2. How will I configure my Win2k computer to be an INternet Gateway so that my WinMe can have internet access?
1. Where will I Check the ICS on Win2k. the Nic1 or Nic2 ?
- NIC 1
2. How will I configure my Win2k computer to be an INternet Gateway so that my WinMe can have internet access?
- Default gateway of WinME should be 192.168.2.1
- DNS Servers of WinME should be same as Win2k -or- 192.168.2.1
- WinME NIC connected to NIC2 of Win2k
Consider connecting WinME directly to the switch since you have 5 IP addresses.
WinME can have any of the unused IP addresses. Use the same subnet, gateway and DNS servers of Win2k.
@Blitz - i Followed your instructions but didn't work for me.. i disabled the firewall software. File Sharing is OK but ICS is not working.
We have more than 5 (WINME) workstations. I can't provide them with IP from PLDT.
if your modem IP address is 210.213.116.141
and your subnet is 255.255.255.248
valid host address range is 210.213.116.137 - 210.213.116.142
210.213.116.143 is a broadcast address.. not supposed to be used as address host..
change the NIC1 IP address of your Win2k from 210.213.116.143 to 210.213.116.137
assign remaining IP addresses to other hosts..
ping the gateway from hosts.. what do you get?
@blitz.. change already. but still wont work. for now im using a PROXY software to share the internet. I will try WINXP if ICS will work.
blitz is right,
@nutjugger, bai when you enable NIC1 for ICS it will automatically NIC2 default to 192.168.0.1 but u can change it. Basin wala nimo gi-change ang 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.2.1 ang imong NIC2, so bisan unsaon pa na nimo, DILI gyud na maka-connect imong mga WINME kay lahi man sila ug network address.
the DEFAULT GATEWAY of ALL of your WINME is the IP ADDRESS of your NIC2.
@helds..
ako na gibuhat bai. kahibaw man ko mo share sa DIAL UP CONNECTION, same ra man gihapon ang paagi sa giingon ni bai blitz.. ang nalibugan lang nako, di jud nako ma share ang DSL with win2000.
sakto man ang configuration sa IP.
@nutjugger,
Bai, just to confirm ang win ME pc mo connected to NIC2 sa imong win2K pc![]()
